The Downsizers is the leading senior relocation and estate liquidation team in the Triangle, specializing in serving the senior community and individuals in transition. We focus on an all-in-one solution including expertise in downsizing, move management, estate liquidation, online estate auction, and moving services.
We proudly serve the entire Triangle region (including Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Morrisville, Holly Springs, Hillsborough, Fuquay-Varina, and surrounding areas (inside the state of North Carolina). The Downsizers movers primarily work in private homes, apartment complexes and senior communities.
Many of our projects occur on tight deadlines and take place during emotional and challenging situations. Candidates need to be adaptable and patient.

Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Properly prepare/wrap items for transport (furniture, art, appliances, etc) to avoid damage.
- Packing and unpacking items with care and to prevent breakage as needed.
- Load items into the moving truck to be transported from the origination point.
- Unload items from the moving truck into the destination point.
- Make sure all daily/weekly truck inspections are performed (safety equipment, tire pressure,oil, equipment, marketing materials, etc.).
- Provide scheduling recommendations to effectively get the job done in a timely manner.
- Provide estimates as needed for moving costs.
- Follow direction from on-site team and/or client for placement of items.
- Train new team members on how to safely move heavy items, while preventing injury and damage to the client's home/furniture.
- Responding to client questions and concerns.
- Submit an Issue Report, along with necessary details/photos, for any damaged items.
- Responsible for training new team members on the moving policies and procedures, as needed.
- Uphold and model The Downsizers Core Values and Mission.
- Provide the highest level of service to our team, clients, referral, and resource partners.
- Develop standard operating procedures, training, and best practices for the roles of Lead Mover and Mover.
- Assist with handyman tasks, as needed.
- Assist with warehouse and supply management, as needed.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate enjoys working with and supporting older adults and individuals in transition. The position of Lead Mover is unique and consists of many smaller jobs, often moving items to local senior communities, family members' homes, consignment and auction, shipment and non-profit partners.
This candidate must be reliable, strong, patient, flexible, efficient, and uphold strong customer service skills. This candidate will also be responsible for managing 1-2 other movers. The candidate may be arriving on-site during a very stressful transition for the client, so it is important to be open to client feedback while efficiently getting the job done.
This candidate has strong leadership skills, a positive attitude, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a willingness to help as needed. This candidate is a critical thinker, resourceful, and flexible. This candidate is teachable, adaptable to different personalities, a team player, and comfortable with technology. This candidate will review the project information prior to arriving on jobs, plan appropriately for supplies/truck drive time needed needed, and arrive early to the job site.

Additional Qualifications:
- Experience: 7+ years of experience as a Lead Mover; managing and leading a small moving team, problem solving project and client issues, and loading and packing a moving truck
- Physical strength and agility: Candidate must be able to lift, load, and unload heavy boxes, furniture, appliances, and other items (up to 75 pounds) on a daily basis. Must be able to climb stairs daily.
- Must have a smartphone and be able to effectively use applications for scheduling, time reporting, and project updates as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable daily transportation to/from the job site for the truck pick-up.
- Must be able to safely drive a 18' moving truck.
- Speak fluent, clear English.
- Motivation to help others.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
- Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment background check.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Full-time position: $25-$28/hour, based on experience (30+ hours/week guaranteed)
