The Radiology Technologist performs clinical and administrative duties as part of the Divisional clinical team. The Radiology Technologist works under the supervision of a physician and performs patient triage, care protocols, venipuncture, laboratory testing and patient follow up as indicated. This position supports timely and optimal patient flow with a focus on the positive patient experience and highest quality of care. Documents as appropriate in the medical record.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Radiology Technologist may be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically stated in this job description. Primary Responsibilities are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the Mission, Core Values and Operating Principles of CAO. • Performs x-rays in accordance with medical provider orders; forwards images to the appropriate radiologist for over-reads; maintains x-ray equipment and adheres to safety standards.
• Cleans, stocks, and sterilizes equipment in addition to cleaning and preparing patient rooms for care delivery.
• Contributes to the achievement of established Division and/or department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Delivers patient care consistent with policy and with high regard for patient/ employee safety and quality of care.
• Maintains knowledge of and appropriately enters information into the electronic medical record.
• Helps to manage patient flow with consistent and frequent communication with patients and other members of the clinical team.
• Performs patient follow up calls for lab tests, patient experience, and clinical results in accordance with policy and in a professional manner.
• Performs venipuncture and selected patient and laboratory testing as ordered.
• Supports other members of the team during downtime or bottlenecks in patient processing. Understands and participates in basic computer and patient intake skills at the front desk.
• May regularly perform duties of the Medical Assistant and/or Front Desk staff as assigned.
• Supports the medical provider in patient examination, testing and education.
• Complies with all governmental and CAO/Divisional guidelines, completing all assigned training by the associated deadlines.

Reporting Relationships:

The Radiology Technologist reports directly to the Divisional clinical leader assigned. The position does not have direct reports.

Requirements, Education and Experience:

• Associates degree or equivalent, and completion of an approved RT program.
• ARRT Certification; must have Maryland, Virginia and/or DC State Licensure as applicable to the position.
• CPR for Healthcare Providers certification.
• 2+ years of medical office experience strongly preferred.

Competencies / Required Skills and Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal skills to promote positive relationships with CAO and non-CAO physicians and other personnel.
• Clinical competence as assessed during initial probationary period and evaluated at minimum annually thereafter.
• Excellent customer service and patient experience skills.
• Proficiency in Windows based office technologies (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Able to work independently.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and charting in same.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in the English language
