Job Description
SALARY: 70,000-80,000
Our client has a big network. They manage dozens of vendors and hundreds of services accounting for millions of operational expense each year. They need your help to make sure that spend is being used in the most efficient way possible. Whether by moving traffic away from a transit connection by establishing a new private peering session or by working with our procurement team to secure a great new rate from a vendor, your role will be vital to the financial health of the company.
What we will count on you for:
Strategy
- You will work closely with the network management team, IT, finance and procurement to develop a sound and scalable strategy for cost management of all telecom and network services necessary to support and grow the Peer 1 Hosting business.
Peering Coordination
- You will actively manage all public and private peering requests, and coordinate with network engineering to develop targeted peering lists to constantly optimize and improve our peering to transit ratios.
Vendor Management
- You will collaborate with network architects, IT and engineers to design and price redundant and scalable backbone and local access circuits from vendors. You will coordinate with vendors on the installation of new services and serve as the primary internal point of contact where necessary for project work with network services dependencies.
Qualifications
What you will bring to the team:Attitude & Commitment
- Proven strength in working with little direct supervision, and thriving in a cross-functional environment.
Experience & Education
- Understanding of Juniper and Cisco, and experience creating BGP sessions on both platforms.
- Fantastic written communications skills, and the ability to collate massive amounts of data about costs, vendors and network traffic into meaningful reports.
- Experience negotiating telecom service contracts and working with corporate legal team to craft agreements that are favorable to Peer 1.
You’ll make the A list if
- You have both a business degree and a CCNP.
- You’ve ever negotiated a multi-million dollar contract with the likes of Level 3 or AT&T.
- You have ever seriously weighed the merits of which Nerf gun has most firepower (either volumetric or distance)
