Job Description

The Building People has an immediate need for a mechanical engineer with some level of BAS experience, who will support our team and/or take the lead on multiple engagements, including a large smart grid project we are leading the Department of Defense.  Specific tasks within that engagement scope are to include:

*Mechanical design support in the smart grid architecture (specifically helping to locate existing points (AMI, BCS, and UCS) on customer sites, documentation of installation specific system design, and the building of BAS content with the GUI architecture).

*Help with requirement writing and system overview design, as the next phases of the project extend into other regions (with the next being Hawaii, necessitating a trip shortly after the position commences).

As the resident expert on the systems, the candidate must review design documents while ensuring the implementation is properly design for maximum effectiveness and efficiency. This will include hardware and software support and accreditation, data collection from AMI, BCS, or UCS systems, and general project support. Recurring duties include across the building automation systems, advanced metering, and energy systems, and addressing the most complex and recurring issues. Technical expertise requires a complete knowledge and experience in evaluating the implementation, effectiveness, and use of the systems and other building operating systems and control technologies. Understanding of the benefits to the implementation of new tracking, utilization, modernization and reprogramming of existing systems, and an ability integrate their functional use across all program areas.


Qualifications

Travel required: approximately one 3-5 day trip every two months

Experience: Demonstrable experience of at least 5 years in the areas detailed below.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with Building Automation Systems and related data access protocols including Bacnet, Obix, and Modbus as a minimum
  • Analyzing Information, Problem Solving
  • 5 Year of mechanical experience
