Company Description

Our client is an MSP working on the design and installation of a new network architecture for a client in Nassau County.  They are looking for a person that can come in and evaluate the network, design a solution, and participate in the installation of the new network. 

This is a 2-3 week project

Job Description

This role will utilize an in-depth understanding of the relationship between various networking components and their operations to organize, prioritize, and execute the design, maintenance, and documentation of multiple systems

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for guiding and directing efforts for and relating to designing, installing and troubleshooting network systems (including wireless) to meet the functional objectives.
  • Evaluate and design the network architecture/infrastructure, and plans and designs LAN/WAN/wireless solutions.
  • Assess network risks and contingency planning.
  • Design, configuration and management of Juniper switches, Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco routers, long distance wireless connections, and microwave networks.
  • Work focuses on planning the network implementation, determining physical and logical layouts; installing, configuring, and maintaining network infrastructure at sites across North America.
  • Meet end user needs by ensuring the uptime, performance, resource availability, and security of the networks managed within established budgets and operational guidelines.
  • Determine and diagram physical layouts which illustrates the physical location of, and the connections between devices on the network.
  • Coordination of strategy in a distributed organization.
  • Assess network vulnerabilities and make recommendations after determining best measures to mitigate; enforce necessary requirements to meet network security compliance.
  • Develop and implement network recommendations regarding standard configurations, documentation, management of change, performance and security.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 5+ yrs. experience in infrastructure/network environments including network design, implementation, administration and support.
  • Cisco/Juniper certifications (CCNP or equivalent)
  • Considerable knowledge of TCP/IP; Ethernet; Network cabling; Layer 2 and layer 3 switching; the OSI Model; MPLS and Metro-Ethernet; VPN and SSL technology; Firewall security; Network management, diagraming and troubleshooting.
  • High working knowledge of: switches, enterprise VPN solutions, firewalls, and wireless.
  • Including the ability to setup, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot.
  • Experience working with common networking features and protocols such as: spanning tree, ARP, CDP, EIGRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, VTP, Etherchannel, 802.1Q trunking, MLS, HSRP, QoS, multicast, 802.11, IPsec, RADIUS/TACACS+Determine and diagram physical layouts which illustrates the physical location of, and the connections between devices on the network.
