About the Role:

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for supporting the AFTD HR function with initiatives such as recruitment, job description finalization, assisting in handbook and policy development and maintenance, benefits implementation, onboarding and offboarding, and employee relations issues. This position requires the ability to keep employee information confidential and exercise discretion and good judgement in dealing with all aspects of Human Resources. The HR Coordinator is called upon to conduct important and necessary research in all areas of HR efforts and team support. They will also maintain databases and electronic tools for efficiency and accuracy. This position will also require that the coordinator performs administrative duties as well by providing assistance to all members of the Operations team.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

 Essential Job Functions

  • Human Resources Support: Provides assistance to all AFTD staff in a growing capacity. Handles administrative HR responsibilities and answers staff and candidate questions/concerns or redirects them to the appropriate team member. Preforms data entry and related functions in a variety of HR systems. Works closely with HR team and vendors to ensure timely and accurate deliverables for AFTD staff. Maintains databases and suggests opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness. Owns deliverables appropriate to knowledge and seeks out higher-level support as needed to complete.
  • Recruiting: Utilizes Applicant Tracking and other systems to manage recruitment workflows. Posts and maintains ads in Applicant Tracking System, reviews and rates candidate applications. Performs phone screenings, inputs notes in recruiting system. manages assessments, and background checks.
  • Onboarding. Works with other departments to ensure new hire onboarding is performed in accordance with AFTD’s policies and procedures. Performs new employee HR orientation as needed.
  • Learning and Development: Tracks compliance with Learning and Development training requirements.
  • Payroll and Benefits: Providing backup to Director of HR for payroll and benefits as needed.

 Other Job Functions

  • Provides administrative support to the Operations department, including mail and deposit processing. Contributes to the support of office equipment for the AFTD team, including phone equipment/software, mailing systems printers, etc. Develops understanding of other support functions across teams and provide support in these areas when appropriate.
  • Facilitates staff celebrations, manages staff anniversaries and incentives
  • Occasional evening or weekend availability as needed
  • Occasional travel for organizational events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position is an individual contributor and does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, organizational psychology, human resource management or similar field. Experience in field may be considered in lieu of degree.
  •  2+ years of experience in Human Resources
  • Knowledge of human resources practices, employment law, and recruiting practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills; ability to collaborate on multiple concurrent projects
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
  • The ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player
  • A demonstrated relationship builder
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with HRIS systems including Applicant Tracking Systems, database management and report generation
  • Ability to approach work with a pleasant and professional demeanor
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work on a wide variety of projects; lending support where needed.
