Job Description

As an Engineering Manager at Teya, you will lead a team with deep Fintech expertise to shape the future of our Product Shared Services domain. You will guide engineering teams through the full development lifecycle, delivering scalable and secure solutions that enhance the business operations of our customers. Your work will directly influence the customer experience, ensuring our products are intuitive, reliable, and impactful.

This role blends strategic planning with hands-on leadership. You will champion quality coding practices, maintainable software design, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. We are looking for someone who is not only technically strong but also deeply curious, forward thinking, and passionate about driving growth—both personally and for Teya. A strong understanding of digital payment processes and a vision for what is next will be key to success in helping shape the direction of our engineering efforts.

On a regular day as an Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Manage the careers and growth of a diverse team of individual contributors. Set goals and development tasks, support the team with feedback and development plans, and conduct performance reviews

  • Collaborate with peers across Teya to deliver world-class services for small business owners in Europe

  • Focus on Quality of Delivery to ensure team velocity and performance

  • Monitor metrics to ensure that service level objectives and error budgets are under control

  • Own the definition, prioritization, evolution, and delivery of development projects, contributing to roadmap planning and execution

  • Lead the design of efficient, scalable, high-throughput, and reliable cloud-based software systems

  • Participate in recruitment processes, including planning future team needs, conducting interviews, and shaping onboarding experiences

  • Work closely with stakeholders across engineering, product, project, and sales teams

Qualifications

  • 1 - 3 years leading development teams, managing the full lifecycle of key features, including planning, delivery, and ongoing maintenance.

  • 5+ years of past experience as a software engineer, preferably on a object-oriented language with clear understanding of reliability engineering

  • Professional experience leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, scaling) of multiple new and existing systems.

  • Proven ability to document and communicate technical decisions to a diverse audience.

  • Ability to solve problems in code using data structures and algorithms and be able to analyze the time and space complexity of those solutions.

Ideal candidates will have worked with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban, etc.) Who have worked with high performance backend services written in Java family class of languages (Java, Kotlin, Scala, etc.) and are focused on resilience and performance.
