Job Summary:
The Texas Workforce Commission is looking for EMERGENCY, TEMPORARY WORKERS to fill multiple Customer Service Representative II positions in the Unemployment Insurance (UI) program. These workers will provide customer service support and receive and respond to various public inquiries for information regarding the Unemployment Insurance Disaster Relief program available to Texans affected by Hurricane Harvey. These positions will be filled immediately, and will be located at 1359 Lomaland Dr, El Paso, TX 79935.
The Customer Service Representative II (CSR II) performs routine (journey-level) customer service work providing immediate service delivery by telephone. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Takes initial claims by phone.
- Investigates and adjudicates UI claims with quality, courtesy, and timeliness.
- May make determinations on initial, additional, reopen, and claims certifications regarding payment of UI to claimants and liability of employers for charge-backs.
- May organize cases according to Tele-Center standard policies.
- Obtains all necessary information and may assist with rebuttal opportunities prior to issuing a quality determination.
- Interviews individuals by phone and simultaneously enters data into computer system with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Explains the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act and other applicable laws to the claimant and employer.
- Work quickly, perform multiple tasks, pay attention to detail, enter and retrieve data from computers, and provide quality customer service.
- Adhere to telephone schedule and strict deadlines as outlined by team supervisor.
- Handle challenging clients in a professional manner.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- UI claims taking experience.
- Ability to type 45 words per minute with minimal errors.
- Experience using copiers, printers, scanners, calculators, and fax machines.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
- Good verbal and written communication skills strongly preferred.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree
PREHIRE QUALIFICATIONS:
Occasional lifting and carrying of 25 pounds and frequent walking, bending, squatting, twisting and standing involved.
Security background check conducted on final candidates.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of GED certification. Prefer two years of full-time qualifying experience in gathering information, interviewing, or counseling; in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise; in unemployment insurance work; or in workforce development issues and programs.
The position's normal hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday - Friday; however, there is the potential for weekends to be added if necessary. The salary for this position is $2,338.70 per month.
