Director of Surgical Services – RN Required
Location: San Jose, CA
Schedule: Full-Time, Days, No Weekends
Salary Range: $184,683 – $230,838 per year
Bonus & Incentives: Up to 17.5% annual incentive bonus

Are you a transformational perioperative nurse leader ready to lead a high-volume, fast-paced surgical services department? This is a career-defining opportunity to join a nationally recognized acute care hospital in the heart of Silicon Valley as the Director of Surgical Services.

Responsibilities:

• Full 24/7 operational leadership over 12 ORs, PreOp, PACU, PAT, SPD, Endoscopy, and Anesthesia Techs (approx. 154 FTEs)

• Drive service line growth in high-acuity specialties (Neuro, Spine, Ortho)

• Collaborate with senior leadership and engaged physicians to expand strategic initiatives

• Maintain OR throughput and staffing excellence in a high-growth, high-acuity environment

• Coach and mentor managers (3 direct reports) and develop future leaders

• Foster a culture of safety, compliance, and accountability across surgical services

• RN license (California or eligible for licensure; administrative duties can be assigned while awaiting licensure)

• Bachelor’s in Nursing required; Master’s (MSN, MHA, MBA) preferred

• 3+ years of surgical services leadership required; 5+ years preferred

• Must be able to scrub and circulate if needed

• Experience with complex OR environments (7,000+ cases/year) strongly preferred

• Union labor experience is preferred

• Strong data and metrics orientation, with proven ability to drive outcomes
