Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and commercially focused Branch Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of our busy branch.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service, developing people, and driving profitable growth.

As Branch Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of branch operations, ensuring the branch operates safely, efficiently, and profitably whilst providing an exceptional customer experience.

As an independent merchant/manufacturer, JDP offers you the opportunity to make a real difference. We are looking for someone who is driven to boost sales and footfall in branch, but also with strong operational experience and a commitment to health and safety too.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the branch team, creating a positive and high-performing culture.
  • Drive sales and profitability through effective branch management and customer engagement.
  • Ensure excellent customer service levels are consistently delivered.
  • Manage branch stock, purchasing, goods receiving, and stock control processes.
  • Oversee branch resources to ensure delivery deadlines and customer requirements are met.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Control branch costs, including overtime and carriage expenditure.
  • Develop and implement branch improvement plans to support business growth.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, field sales colleagues, and support teams.
  • Ensure company procedures and documentation requirements are followed at all times.
  • Protect company assets and maintain branch security standards.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience managing or supervising within a trade, distribution, wholesale, builders’ merchant, or similar operational environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a team.
  • Experience in stock management, purchasing, and branch operations.
  • A customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to deliver profitable business growth.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements within an operational environment.
  • The ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the business.
  • A proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
