Job Description
Role Description:
We are in search of a Contract Farm Technician, to support the Farm Manager at the Crop Vitality (CV) Research Farm in Dinuba, CA.
Please Note: This will be a 3 to 4 month assignment paying $18.00 per hour- Full Time
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide support at the Tessenderlo Kerley, Inc. – Crop Vitality Research Farm enabling TKI-CV Agronomists to conduct high quality, in-house research on TKI’s portfolio of crop protectants and fertilizers.
- Under the direction of the Station and Farm Managers, operate and maintain the TKI-CV Research Farm orchards, vineyards, fields, buildings, grounds, equipment, construction projects, environmental, health and safety and toxic waste management matters.
- Ensure facility operations are in compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations and TKI policies.
- Organize land preparation, field mapping, seasonal crop planting, maintenance and replacements in coordination with research projects and goals of the TKI-CV Agronomists.
- Follow health and safety programs as required by federal, state, regional and local laws and regulations and TKI policy to insure a safe working environment for all employees, contracted labor and guests.
- Maintain the proper licenses and certifications needed to operate farm equipment and apply pesticides and fertilizers on the research farm.
- Assist the Farm and Station Managers coordinate health and safety meetings for Research Farm staff, TKI-CV employees and guests.
Qualifications
Key Knowledge Skills and Behaviors:
- HS Diploma or GED is required.
- 1 year of experience in operating and maintaining farm equipment.
- Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery, tractors, forklifts, pesticide sprayers, fertilizer applicators, direct seeders, transplanters, etc.
- Ability to operate and maintain multiple types of irrigation systems and plumb them for fertilizer injections
- Ability to work with little supervision while working on projects throughout the facility.
- Ability to work with researchers on multiple projects within a season or over multiple years.
- Ability to be an effective team member and demonstrate initiative to meet annual project goals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required.

• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced research setting that can change due to seasonality, research needs or project constraints.
• Ability to improvise and adapt when challenges arise in order to complete projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to identify and report issues with field and greenhouse plantings, irrigation systems, machinery and other relevant equipment needed for research.
