Job Description

This job requires to be based in/close to Kraków. We currently work in a hybrid model and meet in our office 3 days a week.

As Head of Software Development for Tesco, you will have overall engineering accountability for the solutions the teams build and run. You’ll manage an engineering organization of approximately 40  people. You’ll have Software Development Managers and senior engineers reporting to you.

Specifically, you will:

  • Define and drive the development of our technical strategy for evolving the Tesco applications  in close collaboration with Product Management.
  • Work across Tesco Technology on wider technical initiatives and strategy.
  • Mentor and grow the capabilities of our engineering community through leading by example, growing and developing your team’s capabilities.
  • Create the environment for your teams to solve problems with high-quality engineering solutions that scale, perform, and are reliable.
  • Take accountability for non-functional outcomes within your area including a focus on performance, availability, reliability, and security. Our engineering teams operate with a DevOps mindset and principles and run what they build. This includes in and out-of-hours support.
  • Continually look for how we can evolve and improve our technology, processes, and practices.
  • Manage the overall budget for the teams.

You will manage teams in India at the beginning, and after some time teams in Poland.

Qualifications

Experience relevant for this job:

  • Previous experience working in and across software engineering teams with engineering management responsibilities and experience of managing managers.
  • Significant experience in building and operating complex web and mobile applications at scale
  • Experience delivering applications across the whole SDLC while maintating relevant quatilty assurance processes and standards

  • Single SPA -> Micro Front-Ends Framework
  • NodeJS + Express -> Backend for Frontend

Additional Information

Salary:

UoP 38 000 - 50 000 gross
