Summary:

As System Engineering Manager, you will manage a team of Systems Engineers working within Datacentre Network & Security function. They have responsibility for network infrastructure, in terms of service levels, improvements, technology direction and people management. He /She will be proficient in network technologies but will be focused on building a team that can run with the technical work in the most efficient and optimal manner.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage activities of members of the systems engineering job family, building a team culture for continuous improvement and environment where engineers want to work. You will recruit and support the development of members of staff.
• Ensure your team meets exceeds required quality standards, commitments, service assurance and objectives.
• Drives adoption of Evaluate new tools, techniques & processes and being able to understand their value and impact.
• Understand current application development techniques (12 factor app) and there implications to infrastructure
• Build/Manage a team with structure and capabilities to support incidents in live manage RUN (IM, PM, CM etc.) of the network infrastructure and support the relationship to Engineering.
• Support the team in resolving incident and protect them from external influence.
• Keep technical skills up to date and keep track of new technologies, understanding how they might benefit the Technology team and wider Tesco.
• Manage team performance and improve capabilities by defining training plans, objectives, providing feedbacks
• Spot talent/high performance in the team and providing timely reward and recognition.
• Responsible for Service introduction for transformation programmes in network area
• Responsible for Network Capacity Management & Release management
• Managing external suppliers and responsible for measuring, improving service provided.
• Managing stakeholder communication and escalations 

• Years of Experience: 12+
• Technical skills – Datacentre network technologies including routing & switching, Load balancer technologies, Network security devices, Network monitoring and management tools.
• Experience in Design & Implementation of WAN & LAN Networks involving BGP and IGP (OSPF, EIGRP) protocols. 
•  Experience in Design & Implementation of Data Center Networks involving Cisco Nexus, Arista & Advanced Switching technologies (FHRP / VPC / VDC).
• Experience in Design & Implementation of Wireless networks (Aruba, Cisco).
• Capable of leading technical implementations of F5 Load balancers & Firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA).
• Good understanding on MPLS, SD WAN, Cloud hosting solutions & network virtualization concepts (SDN).
