Job Description

We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Auckland team! This role offers hands-on exposure to financial accounting in a large Australasian manufacturing company, providing opportunities to develop expertise in group financial reporting, statutory reporting, tax compliance, treasury management, and business support. You'll work closely with the Financial Accounting Manager, ensuring tax obligations are met reliably and accurately across the Temperzone Australia Group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Treasury Management: Oversee cash flow forecasting, foreign exchange transactions, and bank reconciliations.
  • Distributor Commissions: Calculate, maintain, and process commission payments for Australian distributors, managing complexities in commission agreements.
  • Fixed Assets & Capital Work: Manage asset registers, disposals, and capital work in progress.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Prepare GST/BAS returns, annual FBT returns, and statistical filings for Australian obligations. Assisting Financial Accounting Manager with Income Tax returns and Transfer Pricing Documents.
  • Financial & Business Support: Assist with financial statements, monthly reporting, audits, and board reporting.
  • General Finance Assistance: Support NZ and Australian finance teams, insurance renewals, and miscellaneous invoicing.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure safe work practices, maintain compliance, and report incidents.

Qualifications

This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working in a larger finance team, specialising in financial accounting. The NZ finance accounting team consists of three members, with broader finance operations spanning 10-11 team members. The work environment is structured and professional, and success in this role requires strong time management and multitasking skills.

To be successful, you’ll ideally have:

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in financial and management accounting.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA qualification is not required).
  • Exposure to Australian financial reporting and tax compliance (advantageous but not essential).
  • Experience with large ERP systems or similar software.
  • Manufacturing accounting experience (preferred but not essential).
  • A keen interest in long-term career development, gaining hands-on financial accounting experience.
  • A confident, reliable, and approachable nature, thriving in a quieter, focused work environment.
