JOB SUMMARY

The Corporate Director of Patient Access is responsible for leading all aspects of Revenue Cycle Patient Access for the system. Functional assignments include patient registration, financial counseling or patient financial service, cashier, and management, electronic data interchange for both region and segments of System Health Care. Develops and implements plans to ensure the achievement of established objectives in collaboration with, and under the direction of, the VP of Revenue Cycle. Represents Patient Access and Revenue Cycle in meeting strategic objectives throughout the System. The Corporate Director is expected to demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and be a contributing member of the Revenue Cycle leadership team. Demonstrates the philosophy and core values of System Health Care in the performance of duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develops and assures successful implementation of highly efficient and effective Patient Access management strategies.

2. Overall responsibility for the functional assignments of Patient Access.

3. Continually assess Patient Access operations in order to adjust leadership staffing to assure efficient operations with exceptional outcomes based on national metrics.

4. Manages operations based on data and metrics, consistently meeting assigned targets.

5. Creates a culture of accountability, exceptional customer service, and a highly productive staff.

6. Analyzes operation of the system; prepares recommendation and documentation to create and update fiscal services and other related policies and procedures with respect to operations.

7. Conducts and assists in the presentation of educational sessions as needed.

8. Performs operational assessments during strategic planning and financial review of departments and programs.

9. Assists in creating an annual budget and manages to the budget once approved.

10. Communicates verbally and in writing in a positive, consistent, enthusiastic, and open manner with all internal and external customers. Exhibits skill in communicating complex information at a level of understanding for the appropriate intended recipients.

11. Decision Making uses independent judgment to exercise authority on behalf of System Health Care Corporation by keeping the organization's mission, vision, and values at the forefront. Works independently in a self-directed, non-confrontational, collaborative manner.

12. Supports advises, promotes and advocates for leadership and staff; provides opportunities for professional and technical growth. Motivates staff; defines priorities and communicates organizational goals and works with them to achieve them; seeks the commitment from staff, encourages innovation and team building/planning. Assures regular staff meetings are held.

13. Translates the Vision and Mission Statement into strategic management interactions with staff and internal and external clients.

14. Develop and enhance positive working relationships with MHCC and regional subsidiaries’ CEOs/CFOs and associates within the system.

15. Display a high level of initiative, effort and commitment to assuring highest quality output and standards, and continuous quality improvement.

16. Displays high ethical standards.

17. Other duties as assigned or when necessary to maintain efficient operations of the department and the Company as a whole.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • Fifteen (15) years’ experience in a progressively more responsible leadership role in Patient Access, Financial Management and/or Revenue Cycle with demonstrated supervisory responsibility in health care.

Preferred: 

·       MBA or MHA
