Job Details:
Senior Electrical and Controls Engineer provides Electrical & Controls Engineering for the implementation of Capital Projects for JM. The primary focus of the position will involve leading electrical and controls aspects of projects. This role will be responsible for developing, scoping, coordinating, justifying, implementing, and managing from start to finish a broad range of industrial electrical and control system manufacturing projects, including scope documents, engineering calculations and designs, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, project justifications, and project training and documentation for Johns Manville RS manufacturing facilities in North America.
The ideal candidate will be based in Waterville, OH or Littleton, CO or could be near one of our plant locations. While this role may offer flexibility when traveling, proximity to a plant is required to support on-site collaboration and operational needs.

Your Day to Day:
Safety:
- Demonstrated knowledge in the application of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace - arc flash energy and shock hazards.
- Takes on a leadership role in the execution of RS E&C safety initiatives.
- Provides subject matter expertise to the RS Division with respect to E&C.
Provides electrical and controls support for projects that are being managed by others:
- Perform power, electrical distribution and control system engineering calculations as required.
- Coordinate, review, provide oversight, and manage external engineering resources and consultants as needed.
- Develop specifications for E&C equipment. Adhere to existing JM specifications where applicable.
- Identify suppliers and vendors that can provide E&C equipment such as switchgear, transformers, MCCs, panels, drives, circuit breakers, power supplies, contactors, relays, PLCs, HMIs, etc.
- Develop bid request documentation, supplier lists and bid evaluations. Manage orders from requisition input through installation and warranty issues.
- Work with JM Global Procurement and Logistics to develop and manage the required contracts.
- Develop scope of work documents that can be sent out for budgetary quotes initially and used in the final bidding process once the project is defined.
- Identify, procure and manage contractors for the installation aspects.
- Provide detailed and accurate cost estimates and schedules to project managers for the E&C portion of their projects.
- Develops and maintains project documentation such as work scopes, drawings, start-up procedures, programs, etc.
- Provides financial forecast to project manager regarding the E&C scope.
Take on a project management role for projects that are exclusively electrical and/or controls:
- Maintain communication with management and project stakeholders regarding overall project budget, forecasts, schedule, scope, deliverables, execution and reporting to provide the expected benefits of the project to the organization.
- Manage supplier and contractor activities for all phases of the projects, including commissioning, startup, and training for plant personnel.
- Manage the MOC process for assigned projects.
- Responsible for the overall project financial forecast.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in control systems engineering in a continuous and/or discrete manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated electrical and control system engineering capabilities. Proficiency in electrical systems design, control systems, and automation technologies.
- Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications (including programming) along with communications within enterprise and control networked systems.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Must be proficient in AutoCad.
- Ability to manage and support multiple projects simultaneously
- Led or demonstrated success managing projects from $500k - $2M.
- Must have the ability to work with and influence a multi-discipline team and management with a demonstrated capability to implement plans and follow through with sustained execution, meeting project milestones in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated capabilities in working collaboratively with internal and external engineering resources.
- Must possess good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated drive and initiative to complete assigned tasks and investigate and seek out improvement opportunities.
- Ability to design and execute projects within North America and Canada.
- Requires travel (50% - 75%)
Preferred Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in the engineering and implementation of 480V (Switchgear, Power Distribution Panel, Motor Control Center) and 4160V Power Distribution Systems.
Skills and Certifications [note: bold skills and certification are required]

Proficiency in electrical systems design, control systems, and automation technologies.
Ideal Candidate
There are many active divisoin projects and there is increasing investments coming over the next 5 years. The E&C Engineer position supports division projects that typically range from $1M to $15M. The E&C Engineer also leads projects that have a scope consisting of mostly controls. This role is critical to successful execution of the capital plans.
Working capital projects as well and projects in the plants – and will be a plant resource.
Will manage / run smaller projects (less than $5M ) on larger projects they will be the electrical/controls expert
