Technical Lead API Management Digital Platform

The Technical Lead/SSE for API will lead a delivery team with responsibility for API enablement of eCommerce features of Digital Platform
The ideal candidate for this position will have a deep understanding and hands on experience in API enablement of software platforms at an industrial scale. You will own the technical design and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive API and management platform to enable the organization to be more agile. You will be expected to improve team agility through coaching and implementing best practices for development, automated testing, automated deployment, API Management best practices etc.

Successful candidate will have a background in enabling customer facing experiences via APIs, strong technical ability, great communication skills & a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate will work together with all delivery channels to ensure that the API is comprehensive, scalable and secure while driving visibility to metrics for effective use of the API / underlying platform. Be responsible for overall soundness of designs by pulling ideas from the team and mediating architecture decisions. Help software engineers resolve both technical problems as well as provide guidance & coaching to motivate and help team members to grow in technical delivery capability.

Responsibilities:

•    Hands on technical leadership of software engineers focused on API enablement technical architecture, design, development and delivery
•    Ensure extensibility, supportability, performance & scalability Digital platform by exposing platform functionality via the REST API & associated API management Platform
•    Ensure reliability, security, availability and operational visibility into the API platform
•    Drive technical approach for the REST API along with estimation of effort and hands on technical leadership to ensure high quality, on time delivery of features
•    Hands on design & development of the REST API along with technical lead role on full development cycle for API including leading code/design reviews & architectural choices
•    Technical mentoring to improve the analytical and technical skills of team members

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

•    Prior success leading the API enablement of customer facing retail ecommerce solutions using an API gateway is required (such as Mule soft, Apigee)
•    Highly experienced technical lead with experience in defining the API (and management platform needs) to expose data & services in a channel agnostic manner
•    Prior experience in industrializing APIs by enabling security, usage tracking, operational visibility/reporting, implementing QoS/SLAs, high availability etc. is required.
•    Strong experience in Java based REST API development for highly scalable, customer facing commerce web applications(native, mobile web, desktop)
•    Experience with JSON, XML, Unit Testing (JUnit, Mockito etc.), Maven, GIT etc. with knowledge to work hands on across the full web application stack
•    Knowledge of application development lifecycle, API best practices and  automation
•    Significant technical experience as software developer, software development lead, technical lead, technical architect or related role
•    Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ in a technical lead capacity
