This is a dream job for a person with a love and appreciation of the outdoors! The Land Development Engineer position requires an ability to think critically and to demonstrate a desire to continuously learn. This role will be responsible for effectively providing in-depth and accurate maps and estimates that enable our team to quickly respond to customer requests.

What you’ll be doing...

  • Preparing Estimates for customers for all their ranch enhancement needs
  • Using mapping software to develop Proposals and EstimatesOccasionally visiting sites to learn the business
  • Developing algorithms that will be used in the Estimating process
  • Interfacing with potential customers to understand the desired outcome for the property
  • Presenting recommendations on Estimates to management
  • Continuous learning about the business and technology tools

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare bids, select vendors and/or subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness of projects to be bid. Set productive, consistent, and acceptable work example.
  • Utilize the company approved costing methodology, data, and systems to present estimate results in a detailed breakdown format suitable for use by the project manager and the project team.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
  • Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid/project as assigned
  • Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
  • Use mapping software in preparation of Estimates & Customer Proposals
  • Track actual cost to estimated cost. Upon project completion, conduct debriefing with estimating, engineering and production teams to discuss positive and negative aspects of the project. Maintain cost estimating tools including databases, spreadsheets, and other computer-based applications to keep updated information on past performance and industry standards.
  • Communicate with persons inside and outside of the organization

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Advanced PC skills including use of AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience and background in Estimating preferred
  • MapRight experience a plusEfficient time management and prioritization capabilities
  • Superior communication and organizational skills
  • Strong time management discipline and ability to concentrate on a task
