Job Description

You are applying to join the TCS Academy course for MatchMove.

MatchMove is one of the major parts of any vfx production and primary stage of VFX for the downstream departments to start the work. It is the bridge between 2D and 3D. A crucial part of the VFX pipeline that connects 3D elements with 2D plates. In proper words, visual effects Camera Tracking (matchmoving) is a technique that allows the insertion of computer graphics into live-action footage with correct position, scale, orientation and motion relative to the photographed objects in the shot.

Matchmoving is the process of creating the replicate of live action camera from the original footage to Integrate the CG elements into the footage.

Matchmoving plays a vital role in the visual effects industry. If you would like to pursue your carrier in VFX or matchmoving, you will need some basic knowledge about 3D environment and how computer generated imagery (CGI) works. From Matchmove you can further grow to various 3D departments like RotoAnim, Layout, etc.

Mastering matchmoving/ tracking is not something done overnight. It takes time and lot of patience to be an expert in this. This course will provide you a strong knowledge of good camera tracking. You will be trained with all the useful techniques to get the world class quality work in Visual Effect.

What this course is about?

  • Understanding of the requirements of Matchmoving
  • Fundamentals of camera body & Understanding of Cam data /Scan count sheet
  • How to approach complex footages. From adding 2D tracks to getting the final camera output.
  • Using Lidar/ scan environment model to do the camera lineups.
  • Work with various kinds of footages like spherical, anamorphic, motion blur, animated focal length, lens breathing, etc
  • Geo building techniques.
  • Animating manual camera.
  • How to present your work professionally
  • Quality checking
  • Other advance matchmoving techniques.

  • You will be hired as an employee (paid) during this virtual training. After completing this course, if selected based on your performance, you will move on the floor in one of Technicolor's VFX studios and extended a 6-12 month contract.

  • All applicants will be asked to complete a standardized skills test.
