Job Description

Rigging Artist are responsible for designing, creating and maintaining highly accurate and efficient rigs for high end visual effects films. Riggers work closely with Modelers and Animators to develop and refine rigs that meet the specific requirements of a VFX pipeline.

Essentials: 

  • Strong understanding of Anatomy.
  • Work within an existing pipeline and use Maya or inhouse tools to create rigs for characters and/or props & vehicles.
  • Responsible for fixes on both characters and props.
  • Maintain timing and production quotas given by the coordination team and the Supervisor
  • Strong Eye for detail and continuity.
  • Read and write basic Python code. 
  • Maintain a good team dynamic.
  • Build, test and maintain body and face rigs, skinning and secondary motion setups for a variety of 3D assets.
  • Proven years of experience with major character or creature projects.
  • Write documentation for pipelines/tools created.
  • Strong Eye for detail and continuity.
  • Jump between projects, when requested by Leads or Supervisors, to help meet deadlines. 
  • Able to work independently with a Producer or Manager on small projects.
  • Collect artistic feedback from end users and fine tune rig behaviour accordingly.
  • Strong maths background, especially matrix maths and geometry algorithms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think outside the box
  • Strong coding/scripting skills in Python, Mel.
