Job Description
The ProdOps Engineer is a key member of the TechOps team. Technical knowledge, pipeline awareness and interpersonal acumen need to be at the highest. It is the responsibility of the ProdOps Engineers to create, configure, and maintain the 2D Visual Effects (VFX) production pipelines for all our Film and Episodic projects.
The core skills required are:
Excellent knowledge of the VFX workflow
Strong knowledge of editorial technologies
Experience using Nuke (or similar software)
Proficient in the use of Linux command line
Good overall technical knowledge
Awareness of basic colour science (colour spaces, LUTs, etc)
Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
A successful candidate will need to have previous VFX (or related) experience, familiarity with image processing and colour management, good development skills, excellent troubleshooting and communication skills, and a strong attention to detail. This role directly supports our show Production, Editorial and Imaging science departments, as well as many other departments within the company.
Primary Responsibilities:
Job setup, production pipeline configuration and support
Ingestion (importing client materials shot on set, such as camera footage and all associated data files)
Image/colour manipulation and reformatting
Masking, text burn-ins, information slate generation
Quicktime and image sequence generation
File naming and organization
Testing, ensuring quality control of all configuration and images produced
Setup of the delivery workflow in accordance with the show specification docs
Troubleshooting operational issues, liaising with Software and Render support
Technical documentation
Conferring with VFX Supervisors, 2D Supervisors, Producers and VFX clients and advising as needed
Supporting a diverse group of individuals and multiple fast paced VFX projects, the ProdOps Engineer is part of a team of engineers working together to offer global support, requiring cohesion on workflow and standards across all levels.
Qualifications
Technical Knowledge/Skills and Experience:
5+ years in the VFX Industry (or other relevant editorial based roles)
Understanding of video encoding and image processing
Familiarity with scripting languages
Experience in a technical customer support role, or client facing experience
Proficient in the use of Linux command line
2D/Compositing experience an asset
Experience with shot tracking databases (eg. Shotgrid) is also beneficial
