Job Description

In charge of a team of 6-8 Animators and under the supervision of the Animation Director, the Lead Animator ensures that the artistic vision of the Director is respected. Responsibilities include managing the team of animators, reviewing, and offering feedback on their work along with providing them with technical assistance

Responsibilities

·       Working with the leadership team to develop the animation style of the production

·       Work with the rigging department to help build the assets and character rigs

·       Offer constructive artistic feedback to your team through drawovers, acting or communicating ideas clearly

·       Have coherent film language to help your team within a given sequence

·       plan your team's deadlines given by production

·       Working from storyboards/layout to animate shots
Prepare presentation elements for dailies. 

·       assists in the interviewing process for animation recruitment

Qualifications

·       Minimum of 5 years of experience with Maya in 3D/feature animation.

·       Ability to adapt to an established studio pipeline and tools created for the project.
 

·       Excellent understanding of film language, Storyboards, and the layout process

·       Ability to communicate the Director’s comments to a team.
 

·       Willingness to help train artists, encouraging them to grow technically and artistically.

·       Strong leadership and communication skills

·       Technical Maya knowledge helpful

·       Problem solving skills

·       Previous Lead experience is a plus
