Project Manager, Hyattsville, MD

Description of specific Duties in a typical workday for this position:

  • The Project Manager will provide normal project management functions including technical leadership, quality assurance, and decision-oriented recommendations
  • Develop and maintain a project schedule as needed
  • Perform continued maintenance, updating and tracking of project schedule activities and progress reporting
  • The project manager must have a broad technical background as well as experience with technical writing to assess, produce, and maintain project artifacts (mostly relating to project documentation)
  • Develop and maintain necessary project management lifecycle documentation including Project Charter, Project Management Plan, Requirements Traceability Matrix, and Risk Management Plan
  • Develop and manage specific project performance measures including overall project performance health metrics
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders at all levels of the customer organization
  • Assist project team members and Subject Matter Experts with the definition of project scope and objectives by involving relevant stakeholders, and identifying requirements
  • Identify and manage dependencies between departments, vendors and assets
  • Manage project changes through a Change Control process to ensure appropriate approvals 
  • Identify and document project issues and risks and monitor progress of mitigation actions
  • Successfully establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external resources and key project stakeholders involved in project tasks and key critical path deliverables

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3 years project management experience with PMP or 5 years project management without PMP
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Federal government experience (IRS experience preferred)
  • Prior experience managing medium complexity projects involving multiple departments
  • Experience working with the Government Contracting Officer (CO), the contracting officer representative (COR), Government management personnel and customer agency representatives
  • Strong communication skills with focus on collaboration, team building, and customer service
  • Ability to consolidate project performance data into various types of communication and reporting vehicles to address both management and project team level audiences 
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project)
  • Must have work authorization in the United States
