Serena Administrator CM Lead, Merrifield, VA

Description of specific Duties in a typical workday for this position:

    Serve as the main point of contact top level contributor/specialist for all activities performed by the Process and Technical Team, including configuration management, records management, software process improvement, technical writing, web engineering, and application operations and maintenance. Responsible for assigning, monitoring, and reporting on task assignments across the team while also performing hands-on technical activities. Responsible for driving continuous improvement in the team and for the quality and timeliness of all team deliverables. Responsible for the recording, updating, and mitigations/resolutions of risks and issues associated with the process and technical work. Serve as an escalation point for team members and stakeholders interfacing with the team. Participate in the creation, documentation, maintenance, and application of standard operating procedures for the team. Applies IEEE standards, IEEE templates, and CMMI in the execution of assignments. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks and uses a wide degree of creativity and latitude in accomplishing work. This role requires effective collaboration across many stakeholders in an integrated environment.
    This is a hands-on technical role with requirements to perform system administration, application development, database management, and additional support services. Technical requirements also include tool management, with particular focus on the administration of the Dimensions product. Role performs version management and parallel development, and creates and manages projects and streams. Perform change management tasks. Create and manage requests. Track change sets and manage baselines. Execute reviews, automated analysis and builds. Has knowledge of Configuration Management process modeling and product implementation. Configures Lifecycles, Mail Events, Requests, Items, Request and Item Relationships, Baselines, Design Parts, Users and Role Assignments, Privileges and User Interface Profiles, and Attributes. Enforces Change Management through Rules and Request Priming. Sets Data Formats and Upload Rules. Configures tool for automated reviews, code analysis and builds. Has knowledge of commonly-used development application tools.


Responsibilities:

    Review work of team members as related to verification of builds, scripts, installation procedures, source code control, and issue tracking
    Works closely with Software Assurance Analyst Leads to ensure release version is the version tested and to be released nationally
    Review, verify, and validate SDLC documentation, such as an SCM Plan, PDE, Programmers Manual, and Reference Manual to ensure technical accuracy, readability, and completeness
    Proposes changes to satisfy documentation requirements and project objectives, and proposes updates to documentation to satisfy those requirements
    Responsible for ensuring requirements traceability throughout all SDLC including the PDE, change management tool, and source code
    Responsible for ensuring software release and distribution packages are under configuration control, identifying any deficiencies, and ensuring proper archival
    Responsible for conducting and observing builds, understanding how the build is conducted, and reporting results
    Responsible for application configuration management, including administration of users, features, interfaces, reports, and workflows within the suite of tools within the environment, with particular focus on Serena/MicroFocus
    Responsible for training users, addressing new or changed business needs of the tool, and following agile and waterfall methodologies
    Writes technically accurate and detailed TARs, Software Build Reports, and Media Comparison Reports
    Must track releases to process compliance
    Provides consultation on complex projects

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related area

    At least four (4) years of hand-on experience with the software development life cycle as an analyst, developer, and/or tester
    At least two (2) years of experience in a lead role for a technical team responsible for configuration management, engineering, and/or application operations within an SDLC environment. Must have knowledge of commonly-used IT concepts, methodologies, best practices, and procedures for software development and process management.
    At least four (4) years of experience in the following:
        applying CMMI standards for development and/or services
        reviewing, verifying, and validating SDLC documentation
        ensuring requirements traceability in code
        writing technical reports that are technically accurate, complete, and correct
        working in a Windows, VMS and/or UNIX environment
    At least two (2) years of experience in the technical administration of Serena Dimensions, including v14
    At least two (2) years of experience with Serena Business Manager, especially interfacing with Dimensions
    Experience with Oracle 12c
    Data migration experience with Serena Dimensions, including into v14
    Version upgrade experience with Serena Dimensions, including into v14
    Experience with risk and issue management
    Experience with status reporting and communicating at multiple levels within an organization and customer environment
    Experience with continuous improvement initiatives
    Excellent oral and written English communication skills; strong organization and time management skills; the ability to problem-solve and apply policies and procedures to resolve complex situations; and ability to work well in teams and individually
    Experience working with Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
    Ability to travel (5-10%)

This is a full time position paying a base salary, full benefits, and has possible bonus potential based on merit and performance.
