Process Modelling Specialist - AspenPlus

Job Description

Your AspenPlus skills are in demand!

You could make any number of moves. So why this one?

So, you’re already well aware that Teesside has a long-held reputation as a centre of expertise in the field.

This is a chance to work at the heart of it all, with a well-respected, highly successful technology development business – one that’s been a presence in the area for many years and is now backed by one of the world’s largest privately-held companies.

What’s more, you’d be working alongside a welcoming, dedicated team of engineers and scientists with unparalleled expertise – men and women who’ve worked for some household names in chemical engineering.

Open-minded

Provided you hold a degree (ideally a Masters) in Chemical Engineering, have strong Aspen experience (including customizing modelling software, utilising and modifying embedded Fortran code and running sequenced H&MB models), the company is open minded about your background.

You could be working for a similar (petro)chemical company elsewhere in the UK and looking for a change of scenery. Perhaps you want to switch from a different sector, like Oil & Gas. If you’re currently in academia, it’s a great chance to add some commercial experience to your CV.

Find your niche

The job itself is ideal for someone who loves the challenge of designing, building and improving process models. You’ll gain a full overview of how a large-scale, $multi-million production plant operates, but there’s no pressure to take on new responsibilities. This is your niche.

You’ll be a respected specialist in a technically innovative team. The process models you work on (including complex heat and mass balance models) will have a critical impact on almost all of the department’s operation, helping to optimise plant design and identify cost benefits. Your technical skills will be highly valued here.

You’ll occasionally train other users in AspenPlus. If you have experience of AspenPlus Properties/Interaction Parameters or Aspen Basic Engineering, that would be an advantage.

Of course, you’ll need the right soft skills too. You’re self-motivated – always looking to improve – and capable of working well in a team, with good all-round communication skills; your colleagues would recognise you as someone who’s always respectful of others.

Tick all the boxes and the company can offer a very competitive salary. There’s also financial support with relocation if you need it. The company is based in a beautiful area on the northern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors with easy access to other areas of outstanding natural beauty including the Peak and Lake Districts. This really could be a breath of fresh air.
