Downstream Scientist

Job Description

Based in the North East our clients are specialists in the project management of some of the most complex and challenging new technologies in the industrial bioprocessing sector. Their team specialise in consultancy services to clients across the UK to develop new products and improve current processes with the aim of providing a commercially viable/improved production process. Due to continued success they are now looking to take on 2 Downstream Scientist’s to support activities relating to the development of manufacturing processes for novel biopharmaceuticals, this will include; recombinant proteins, viral vectors, antibody drug conjugates and nanomedicines.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and evaluate innovative processing technologies such as continuous downstream processing and crystallisation
  • Collaborate with other downstream scientists as well as upstream and analytical scientists to develop manufacturing processes for novel biopharmaceutical products
  • Design, develop and optimise experiments within robust primary recovery and purification processes
  • Assist / manage scale up of downstream processes to provide proof of successful process development and optimisation
Experience & Qualifications
  • You will be a either a PhD graduate with research experience in the field of Downstream processing for production of Biopharmaceuticals, or hold a Degree / HNC qualification with extensive skills and experience within industry
  • Hold experience relating to development and scale up of chromatography processes
  • Experience of process development and data analysis
  • Ideally you will have experience of performing techniques for the purification therapeutic biologics, for example; centrifugation, filtration and chromatography
  • Ideally you will hold experience in protein analysis; HPLC methods, SDS PAGE & ELISA technologies
