Teachers for Vietnam improves the English proficiency of Vietnamese university students by exposing them to trained native speakers. Teachers for Vietnam is also committed to developing greater awareness, understanding, and personal ties between Americans and Vietnamese.

Teachers for Vietnam was established in 2006 to help meet the rapidly growing need for native speakers of English to teach the language in Vietnamese colleges and universities, establishing ties with various institutions of higher learning and sending teachers from the United States to fill teaching positions in ESL at these colleges and universities.

Teachers for Vietnam matches recruited teachers with appropriate university-level positions and offers them an introduction to teaching ESL as well as a country orientation before they leave for Vietnam to take up their teaching duties.

Job Description

As an ESL Teacher  you’ll teach classes in speaking and listening, pronunciation, and American culture. You'll be responsible for your teaching syllabus and creative teaching methods. Outside of class, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get involved in student activities, such as playing soccer and basketball, taking part talent shows, learning from your students how to cook Vietnamese food, and more.  Students often invite their foreign teachers to visit their homes for weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations.

ESL Teaching positions are currently available at Can Tho University, An Giang University, and Tra Vinh University.

Applications are now open for August 2018 departure. Contract valid for 1 school year, August 2018 - May 2019.

Qualifications

  • a bachelor’s degree
  • experience in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) or a TESL certificate course approved by Teachers for Vietnam prior to departing for Vietnam
  • native fluency in written and spoken English.
