Job Description

Bring your design innovation to products used by some of the world's most accomplished professional athletes!  TYR Sport Inc., the leading manufacturer of competitive swim and triathlon gear, is looking to add an experienced and hands on Industrial Designer to our hard goods design team.

As the Designer of Swim Hard Goods your responsibility includes designing for all accessory categories including swim caps, swimming goggles, equipment bags, and training equipment for swimmers. The Designer works to create product that is innovative and bold, that communicates an engaging story, and provides consumers with a positive experience.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize new and innovative product ideas and improve existing products for the entire breadth of the eyewear and accessories line.
  • Solve technical difficulties in concept, prototyping, 3D creation and manufacturing samples.
  • Advocate on behalf of new product throughout the entire design and production process from early stage concept illustration to sample creation and mass production.
  • Coordinate with the sports promotions department, sponsored athletes, coaches and the sales team to solicit feedback for product testing and marketplace optimization.
  • Maintain intimate knowledge of marketplace trends, industry standards, legal compliance, and brand objectives.
  • Develop and maximize relationships with factories for product sampling and material capabilities.
  • Meet production deadlines and manage approval process, including first line sample approvals.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors, Industrial Design
  • 5+ years of professional experience with demonstrable results.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • Exhibit continual design Innovation and ideation for swimming industry.
  • Ability to manage original designs from concept to final production.
  • Professional knowledge and experience designing plastic, fabric and other materials, as well as a full understanding of the manufacturing process.
  • Proficient in Solidworks, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be a swimmer and have knowledge of the swim community.
  • Experience with and knowledge of rapid prototyping.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and business acumen.
  • Superior follow-through and detail orientation.
  • Energetic and open mind to creating innovative product for today’s professional athletes.
  • Maya and Rhino 3D programs a plus.
