Our summer internship will give you the opportunity to contribute to our interdisciplinary teams, working alongside consultants from a diverse range of academic backgrounds – Engineers to Physicists and Mathematicians, to experience technology consulting in action.  Over the course of your placement, you will contribute directly to exciting projects to get hands-on, practical experience and gain insight about what a career in innovative research and technology development can offer.

At Awerian, we value initiative and curiosity, and our non-hierarchical culture gives you the freedom to explore projects that reflect your own interests. By the end of the internship, you will have first-hand experience of how engineering and science are applied in a commercial context, as well as a clear sense of what it’s like to work in a fast-paced, inventive environment like ours. Our internships are also a great pathway into a career, as we consider all our interns for graduate roles.

When considering applications, we are looking for individuals who:

  • Physics
  • Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Computer Science
  • Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning

We're keen to hear from strong applicants across all these areas and would tailor projects to suit the individual's background.

  • Have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate study by the time of the start of the internship (students at the beginning of their second year are very welcome to apply).
  • Are driven, proactive and curious, with a strong sense of personal responsibility; we want people who love to learn and think creatively to understand the root of a challenging problem.
  • Are collaborative and adaptable, able to build relationships, and comfortable navigating a dynamic professional environment independently and within a team.
  • (Ideally) Show evidence of applying their technical expertise to research, practical applications, and/or developing new technology. This may be through university, previous work experience, side projects, or extra-curricular activities.
