Job Description

What are you going to do as a Senior Accountant? 
Play a key role in our accounting team, driving efficiencies and improvements within our processes and systems! As a Senior Accountant, you’ll provide support for strategic initiatives and take ownership of specific accounting areas during the month-end close. We are looking for a dynamic performer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a robust accounting background, values collaboration and is able to work independently. This role requires a focus on customer and operational excellence.

You’ll familiarize yourself with the company's accounting processes, systems, and timelines, while gaining proficiency in our ERP system. You’ll build relationships with key stakeholders across Finance, take ownership of assigned accounts and reconciliation schedules, and provide insightful commentary on month-end fluxes. You'll become a key member of the month-end close process.

As a Senior Account, you’ll be responsible for the following:
- Execute and review month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and flux analysis, ensuring timely completion.
- Manage general ledger accounting for prepaids, accrued expenses, fixed assets, and payroll-related accounts.
- Assist the controllers with technical accounting topics and workstreams.
- Provide clear and concise flux commentary for balance sheet and income statement accounts/trends on a monthly basis for assigned accounts.
- Review reconciliations prepared by others.
- Continuously develop and implement process improvements to streamline and shorten close timelines.
- Enhance documentation, reconciliation schedules, and analyses to support a strong internal control environment.
- Assist with annual financial audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and other supporting documentation for external auditors.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams within, and outside of, finance (AP, AR, FP&A, etc.) to achieve results efficiently and effectively.
- Support ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • You have a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Have you got a Chartered Accountant Certification (or equivalent)? That’s a plus!
  • You have 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience in a fast-paced and rapidly changing business environment.
  • Having at least 2 years’ experience with a Big 4 or equivalent national accounting firm is highly desirable.
  • Preferably, you have experience in the SaaS or Technology industry.
  • You have strong technical accounting skills. Experience with multi-currency is a plus.
  • You’ve worked with one or more financial ERP/general ledger systems; Netsuite experience is a plus.
  • You’re able to operate effectively in a fast-paced team environment, manage competing priorities, and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • You’ve got strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • You’re fluent in English, both spoken and written. Speaking Dutch is highly regarded as well.
