ONS Digital is continuing to improve its public facing digital products following the launch of the new website earlier this year. This role will work alongside the existing team to work on an ambitious roadmap to improve data discovery features for our users.

About the work
Who the specialist will work with
A multi-disciplinary agile team including UX designer, user researcher, front-end developer, back-end developer, content designer, web ops, tech arch, delivery manager and service manager
What the specialist will work on
The Product Owner will work with a multidisciplinary product team building products and services to meet users’ needs. They will be a high energy, proactive, adaptive and creative individual with the skills and empathy to get user buy-in for the product definition. Product owners enjoy problem solving and promoting collaboration, and have an understanding and / or experience of business operations and an understanding of working with agile methodologies. A knowledge of geospatial concepts and technologies will be beneficial for this role.

Address where the work will take place Newport, South Wales
Working arrangements Work will be on-site in Newport (Mon-Fri) - there is the potential for work from home days by agreement with Service Manager
Security clearance Disclosure Scotland security vetting.

Skills and experience
Essential skills and experience
- Expert in agile ways of working as outlined in the Government Service Design Manual and the potential this brings
- Expert in prioritising often conflicting requirements and taking an organisational wide approach, with experience of applying business analysis techniques in a digital delivery context
- Strong experience and clear demonstration of strong verbal, written and visual communication skills for internal and external audiences
- Expert in the techniques used in user research to gather evidence of user need and behaviour
- Expert in two or more disciplines; digital and technology, user research, web analytics, user experience design, data publishing, geospatial technologies, business and policy.
- Practical experience in leading digital delivery teams.
