Summary of the work Programme will replace the legacy Military Medical Solutions with COTS over the Cloud using NHS suppliers or other suitable commercial products and services. To enable the AP to start an Application Architect is being sourced to support the Programme Manager and Lead Architect develop the Target Architecture.

Job Description
What the specialist will work on
For each Theme provide Technical Application Documents describing the AS-IS (Legacy) and TO-BE environments in both Fixed and Deployed.
Example Theme documents include but not limited to:
- Architecture Vision & Roadmap
- Solution Architecture Document
- High Level Design Documents
- Interface Documents with 3rd Party Apps
- Data Logical Models (work with Data Architect)
- Data Migration docs
- Data Dictionary
- RISK Management Docs
Work setup
Address where the work will take place
Primary location to be Corsham, Wiltshire Due to the nature of the work to be delivered there will be a need to visit other locations including London, Lichfield, Bristol and Leeds.
Working arrangements
This Application Architect will work under the Lead Architect who will be responsible for the transition and development of a new architecture for Programme. The main function of the Business Architect will be to understand and document the Architectural Design of the current system and how it will transition into Programme. To work closely with the Team and Stakeholders in the development of a Application Architecture for Programme

Skills and experience
Essential skills and experience
- Experience in defining Application Architecture Frameworks and Blueprints for Large Scale Development
- Strong Experience in Enterprise Web Applications for Front-end (Client) and Back-end (Server) Solutions
- Cloud Application Design experience
- Application development, configuration and integration programme planning.
- Firm understanding of Web Service concepts and Technologies (WSDL, XSD, XML, REST and SOA)
- Minimum of 5 years integrating IS applications.
- Minimum of 3 years working in multi-disciplinary IT architecture teams.
- Minimum of 3 years working in customer facing roles.
Nice-to-have skills and experience
- Integration of medical IS applications, including Off-The-Shelf (OTS) Primary and Secondary Healthcare applications.
- Integration of NHS England Spine systems and N3 Cloud.
- Bespoke medical IS applications design.
- HL7, HL7v3 or HL7 FHIR message exposure.
- TOGAF, Zachman or MOD Architecture Framework (MODAF) experience.
- Exposure to a wide range of OTS medical IS applications across primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare areas.
- Understanding of other NHS systems.
- Exposure to MOD medical IS systems.
- Development of architectures within an Agile, Continuous and Test Driven programme framework.
- Exposure to NHS systems of devolved administrations.
- Application and data migration.
- Working within an AGILE environment
- Working knowledge of JIRA and CONFLUENCE, Continuous Integration and Build Management: Hudson/Jenkins, Maven, Github etc.
- Relational DB (Oracle, SQL Server)
- Experience with Virtual environments (Citrix, Xen, VMware, Microsoft Intune etc.)
- Experience of working with MOD.
- Minimum of 3 years working with the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC).
- TOGAF 9.1 or MODAF Certified
