Job Description
The Role
We’re looking for a Supervising Producer to lead media production across the Countdown team.
This is a senior creative and operational role for a producer with great storytelling skills who can
navigate the full landscape of modern digital media — from short-form video to long-form
documentary to audio. You’ll be the connective tissue between our internal team and the
external producers, filmmakers, and creators we work with, ensuring everything we make is
sharp, purposeful, and built for the moment.
What You’ll Do
You’ll serve as the main point of contact for all media production across the Countdown team,
coordinating with internal stakeholders and external partners to keep projects on track and on
vision. You’ll lead creative development for films, videos, off-stage content, and audio — from
the earliest concept stage through final delivery. You’ll hire and manage third-party producers
and production companies, owning those relationships end to end. You’ll also manage creator-
led media partnerships for Countdown, supporting collaborations with individual creators and
production partners to expand our reach across platforms.
What We’re Looking For
You’re an experienced producer, video journalist or non-fiction filmmaker with a strong editorial
eye and a track record of telling complex stories clearly and compellingly. You understand how
content travels across platforms — YouTube, Instagram, podcast feeds, editorial sites — and
you know how to shape a story for each. You have enough fluency with climate and
environmental topics to move quickly in the space, and enough creative ambition to imagine
stories that haven’t been told yet. You are open- minded and curious - and keen to learn from
people with different perspectives.
You’re also a strong collaborator and a capable manager who can give and receive good notes,
hire the right people, and keep a production moving without losing the creative thread.
Qualifications
– 7–12 years of experience in video journalism, documentary production, or digital media
– Demonstrated experience leading or supervising production across multiple formats
– Strong editorial and storytelling instincts with a portfolio to back them up
– Experience managing external production partners and freelance talent
– Familiarity with climate, environment, or science journalism — either through direct
coverage or adjacent work
– Experience working across digital platforms and understanding of how content performs
in each
– We are headquartered in New York but open to remote or hybrid approaches, travel to
events and shoots will be required either way.
