Job Description
This is a pivotal leadership opportunity within TAL’s Finance team, responsible for leading a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of 17 and overseeing an area significantly impacted by business-wide change initiatives. Working closely with senior Finance leaders, you will ensure the month-end close process is delivered seamlessly, with strong governance, transparency, and clear communication. You will foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture aligned to TAL’s Spirit, creating meaningful development opportunities that enable individuals and teams to thrive.
The role also plays a critical part in building and maintaining strong relationships across the business, partnering with stakeholders to support strategic change, growth initiatives, and operational resilience. In addition, you will provide operational oversight of financial controls while acting as a trusted advisor to the General Manager, Financial Control, contributing strategic insight and guidance to support the ongoing success of the Finance function and broader organisation.
In this role you will:
- Lead the Financial Control team to realise development and transformation objectives
- Oversee the reconciliation and other control functions within and outside of Finance
- Optimise the effectiveness and efficiency of reconciliations and other control processes
- Partner with the Line 1 Risk Manager to ensure adequate controls are in place
- Deliver new general ledger, reconciliation and investment solutions
- Ensure the accuracy of external reports and manage the external audit process
- Co-design and deliver Board papers in relation to Finance matters
- Manage external custody and investment administration arrangements
Qualifications
- Excellent financial analytical skills and technical accounting knowledge
- Strong report writing and presentation skills
- Post graduate qualification in Accounting with minimum 7 years’ relevant experience within finance/insurance industry
- A member of CA or CPA
- Extensive managerial and change management experience
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to drive change by creating a vision for the change and gaining the support of stakeholders to deliver it
- Excellent demonstrable skills in delivering change and process improvements
