Job Description
At TAL, our Group Life business protects the financial wellbeing of millions of Australians, partnering with employers and institutions to deliver trusted insurance solutions at scale. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to that promise by turning portfolio data into insights that guide smarter, more sustainable decisions across our Group Life and Retirement business. Working at the intersection of analytics, strategy and collaboration, you’ll help shape outcomes that matter—supporting long‑term growth, improving member experiences, and advancing TAL’s purpose of protecting what’s important.
Please Note: This is a fixed-term contract until February 2027
In this role you will:
- Deliver portfolio insights that inform profitability, performance and strategic decision‑making across Group Life & Retirement.
- Analyse experience and trends to identify emerging risks, opportunities and key portfolio drivers.
- Enable senior decision‑making through clear, commercially focused reporting and performance storytelling.
- Partner across the business to provide data‑driven insights that shape strategy and optimise outcomes.
- Strengthen portfolio analytics by enhancing tools and models that improve accuracy, efficiency and insight.
- Uphold governance and quality by ensuring portfolio reporting is accurate, consistent and risk‑aligned.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical curiosity, using data and modelling to uncover insights and solve meaningful business problems.
- In‑depth knowledge of SQL, with the ability to work confidently with large datasets and analytical tools (such as Excel or R).
- Clear, thoughtful communication, able to explain complex ideas in ways that support informed decision‑making.
- A collaborative mindset, building trusted relationships and contributing positively across diverse teams.
- Attention to detail with commercial awareness, ensuring insights are accurate, relevant and decision‑ready.
- A solid academic foundation in actuarial science, mathematics or a related discipline, with motivation to keep learning and growing.
