Job Description
At TAL, we’re here for Australians when life takes an unexpected turn. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our claims decisions are fair, consistent and grounded in strong risk management, helping build trust at every moment that matters. A key focus of this role is to promote a culture of risk management and continuous improvement by providing risk-based detective controls and insights relating to claim assessment. You may be required to lead the delivery of small to medium scale projects or well-defined tasks on major projects to enable QA remediation or continuous improvement initiatives.
In this role you will:
- Lead QA reviews and thematic deep dives to identify any issues impacting claims quality and customer outcomes.
- Translate data, file reviews, and stakeholder insight into clear root cause analysis, not just surface-level findings.
- Deliver sharp, evidence based insights that inform decision making at Head of and GM level.
- Identify where controls are ineffective or not fit for purpose and articulate what needs to change and why.
- Partner with Claims, Risk and Governance to shape practical, sustainable improvements not just recommendations.
- Contribute to prioritisation of QA activity, focusing effort where risk and impact are highest.
Qualifications
What we are looking for:
- Experience in claims quality assurance or similar environment, with exposure to complex claims processes and decision making.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capability, able to move beyond ‘what happened’ to ‘why it happened’.
- Ability to work with imperfect data and ambiguity to form clear, evidence-based views.
- Confident communicator who can challenge constructively and influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Demonstrated ability to translate insights into practical actions that improve outcomes.
- Understanding of risk, governance and regulatory expectations and ability to apply these pragmatically, not mechanically.
- Comfortable working across data, systems and qualitative inputs to form a holistic view of performance
