Job Description

As a Recovery & Support Specialist at TAL, you play a pivotal role in helping people reclaim their health, independence and confidence during some of life’s most challenging moments. By partnering closely with Claims teams, this role shapes meaningful recovery pathways that support sustainable return‑to‑health and return‑to‑work outcomes. Your impact extends beyond individual claims—strengthening capability, improving outcomes and reinforcing TAL’s commitment to doing the right thing for customers, every step of the way.

In this role you will:

  • Drive optimal recovery and return‑to‑work outcomes by shaping clear, evidence‑based strategies across IP and TPD claims.
  • Partner with Claims teams and health practitioners to remove barriers and accelerate sustainable return‑to‑health outcomes for customers.
  • Identify and intervene early on at‑risk claims to prevent prolonged recovery and improve overall claim duration and experience.
  • Build Claims Consultant capability through coaching and guidance on medical, rehabilitation and return‑to‑work decision‑making.
  • Ensure recovery services deliver value by influencing quality, alignment and performance of external providers.
  • Strengthen best‑practice recovery approaches by collaborating with Health Services and contributing insights to Claims leadership.

Qualifications

  • A strong allied health or rehabilitation background you use to support thoughtful, person‑centred recovery and return‑to‑work outcomes.
  • A practical biopsychosocial mindset, enabling you to see the whole person and navigate complex barriers to recovery with confidence.
  • Clear, empathetic communication skills that help you build trust, influence outcomes and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, coaching‑oriented approach, with a genuine desire to share expertise and lift capability across teams.
  • A customer‑first mindset and professional judgement, allowing you to work effectively within compensable environments while doing what’s right.
