Job Description

As the Technical - Functional Peoplesoft Analyst in the Financial Systems Team your role will be to work with Finance, Project Managers, Business Analysts, the user community and other team members to support projects that are aligned with TAL strategy.

This role is a 50/50 Technical/Functional split.

Support includes:

  • Project (continuous improvement and system maintenance) - planning, analysing, preparing collateral and managing the implementation of changes to financial systems in line with project objectives.
  • BAU - manage the finance systems issues/ requests process.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead design discussions in relation to the financial systems
  • Understand business needs through consultation and collaboration
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple divisions 
  • Work closely with TAL’s IT outsource company
  • Conversion of the business requirements to financial system specific specification requirements
  • Perform all tasks in the implementation cycle, including: business process definition, configuration and unit testing, support of user acceptance testing and post-live support, whilst using the current change methodology (including appropriate segregation of duties in the life cycle process)
  • Ensure appropriate change control is adopted for any business and financial system changes
  • Maintain/ create finance systems operating procedures, protocols and process documentation

Software upgrade and patching:

  • Identify potential improvements for TAL to accept with vendor initiated upgrade/patching.
  • Actively involved in finance systems software upgrade/patching projects.
  • Proactively identify continuous improvement opportunities for finance systems.

BAU

  • Supporting the Finance Systems customer service desk.
  • Triaging, prioritising, and assigning resource to address Finance Systems issues/ requests tickets.
  • Actioning and closing out the tickets.
  • Liaise with other system owners and TAL IT to resolve software integration issues.
  • Ensure that any changes to finance systems maintain the controls to ensure the integrity of financial systems and related systems

Qualifications

Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to correctly translate user requirements into technical collateral
  • Analytical focus with high attention to detail to ensure user requirements are fully addressed
  • Demonstrable ability to provide project stakeholders with a positive experience and deliver quality outcomes
  • Strong working knowledge of core finance modules: General ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Billing, Reporting and Asset Management
  • SQL skills
  • Debugging skills 
  • Robust understanding as to how the finance systems interface with other systems.

Finance Systems Skills and Experience:

  • PeopleSoft V9 or higher / Oracle Cloud ERP / Hyperion / Oracle Cloud EPM
  • PeopleTools knowledge of Application Designer, PeopleSoft Code, Application Engine and SQR programming
  • EPM knowledge of Financial Reporting Studio, SmartView, Calculcation Rules
  • Concur
  • Reconciliation tools ie:  Accurate-NXG

Other Skills and Experience:

  • Sound understanding of accounting/finance principles and practices.  Ideally will hold an Accounting degree or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of life insurance products
