Job Description
Network & Services International (NWI) develops, plans, builds and operates the international network infrastructure of Deutsche Telekom AG and produces intercarrier and wholesale services for the sales units W-IC, B2B and IoT.
The unit Digitalization & Strategy empowers NWI in its ambition to obtain a digital production.
As a DevOps Engineer you implement and maintain software across all stages of its lifecycle. You will work together with experienced engineers and business stakeholders located around the globe.
Your first assignment will be to modernize and extend the automation landscape of a business-critical work order platform used throughout Deutsche Telekom's international operations. You will design, build and operate CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native infrastructure and automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve delivery speed. With the remaining part of your capacity, you will take ownership of the operation, reliability and continuous improvement of the platform on all environments.
The general responsibilities of this position are:
- Designing, extending, and operating the infrastructure/services across projects in close collaboration with other units
- Supporting complex projects during the development, the quality assurance during development, as well as during the planning and execution of product releases
- Automating & owning the cross project infrastructure and tool suite for integration and delivery
- Partnering with software engineers and business teams to accelerate delivery.
- Improving deployment reliability, observability and operational excellence
- Preparing concepts to further automate defined complex services, processes, and/or operating models
- Carrying out performance analyses and tunings
- Conducting and supporting team members from fault analysis through to fault clearance (incident and problem management)
- Driving continuous improvement in security, performance and operational efficiency
- Leading complex CI/CD initiatives

- Key deployment processes are automated.
- Lead time for software delivery is reduced.
- Operational stability has improved.
- Manual effort is significantly reduced.
- Engineering teams can release more frequently and with greater confidence.
Qualifications
Must-have
- University degree preferably in computer sciences or related field or several years of experience in software development.
- Excellent knowledge in modern IT stacks (test automation frameworks, CI/CD, cloud native, on and off premises infrastructure etc.).
- Solid software engineering background with practical programming experience in Python, Java or similar languages.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms and Infrastructure as Code.
- Proven track record of hands-on involvement in software development projects involving modern frameworks and higher programming languages.
- Experience operating applications and infrastructure in cloud and/or Kubernetes environments.
- Strong automation mindset and a passion for reducing manual effort.
- Intercultural competence.
- Working proficient English (at least B2 level).
- Practical experience with Jira, Confluence and Microsoft 365.
Nice-to-have
- Experience in telecommunications, networking or service provisioning.
- Knowledge of TM Forum standards and processes.
- Experience with Camunda-based workflow solutions.
- German language skills.
