Job Description

SRE Lead

Provide leadership and guidance across the Global SRE team, acting as a subject matter expert and leading best practice techniques. To lead the Global SRE team in ensuring technical assurance in significant projects, for the delivery of quality technical deliverables, which may involve several teams or technologies. To oversee the SRE team to ensure they are involved in every step of the application software development lifecycle, including product design, development, testing, and transition into operation. Provide coaching and mentoring to the SRE team to improve their skillset, increase knowledge and set the benchmark of quality and precision engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct an SRE team of bright and driven full-stack engineers in the development, administration, and upkeep of reliable infrastructure and easy-to-use tools
  • Managing the global SREs and to drive defined objectives of the SREs for their respective units
  • Defining the roadmap for the SREs – in line with the overall Operational Excellence objectives for the units
  • Work with the SRE team to provide high-quality infrastructure that is easy to maintain and deploys reliably
  • Mentor and guide SRE engineers to realize their full potential by providing honest criticism and setting clear goals
  • Continuously enhance our infrastructure and supporting procedures while simultaneously identifying cost reductions
  • Support Team Tooling & Automation
    • Partner with development / automation teams to bring solutions which could be implemented within the units
    • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
    • Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service-level objectives
    • Engage with product support team to identify and provide self-service tooling and automation that drive efficiencies, scale, and overall customer experience.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Experience leading teams through transformation programs.
  • Experience with software configuration management and release engineering
  • Experience using tools to create and manage CI (continuous integration) and CD (continuous delivery) pipelines
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies
  • Knowledge of controlling infrastructure and associated equipment
  • Experience working with cloud service platforms and knowledge of best practices and methods for resolving issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to weigh several choices and suggest a course of action.
  • Experience guiding a team and setting both group- and person-specific goals.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with other SREs, Engineers, Product Managers, etc.
  • Passion for fostering the growth and development of SRE Engineers

Preferred skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related discipline
  • Ability to program (structured and OOP) using one or more high-level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript
  • Two or more years of leading an SRE team.
  • Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related discipline
