Job Description

Systima Technologies is actively seeking candidates for various hands-on technician roles, at all experience levels. Ideal candidates will have a strong mechanical aptitude and work ethic, with a desire to learn and grow with our fast-paced team.

1. RECEIVING INSPECTOR

The Receiving Inspector assists Quality Manager and Quality Engineering with Product Quality Assurance. Works with project managers, engineers and other technicians, and reports to Quality Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs inspection of incoming hardware (Receiving Inspection)
  • Verifies hardware complies with drawing
  • Verifies hardware documentation is complete and correct
  • Assists Quality Assurance with release of documents (Configuration Management)
  • Assists Quality Assurance with preparation of Product Technical Data Packages (TDP)
  • Assists Quality Assurance with in-process inspections and tests of product

2. COMPOSITES TECHNICIAN

The Composites Technician is responsible for the hand layup and filament winding of advanced composite materials on designated tooling per specific work instructions, and/or customer specifications. Tasks included in this position are tooling fabrication, tool prep for lay-up, hand lay-up of pre-preg composite material using a variety of techniques and processes, vacuum bagging, precision trimming and layup techniques.

Systima's Structures and Advanced Materials team is hiring Composites Technicians at every experience level, and will provide on the job training for all projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Builds composite parts using appropriate hand layup techniques
  • Utilizes ply-placement system for accurate lay up of plies on tools during layup process
  • Visually inspects for FOD prior to bagging parts for room temperature, oven, and autoclave
  • Performs in-process inspections as instructed on work orders and as delegated by quality
  • Reads precision measuring tools and instruments
  • Uses chemicals, adhesives, and solvents as required
  • Observes safety and security procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions
  • Reads and understands blueprints and drawings
  • Assists with basic facility maintenance and clean-up
  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic

3. ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Engineering Technicians support the engineering teams and other technicians with mechanical assembly, testing, facility maintenance, packaging and shipping. Technicians are in a hands-on work environment performing product assembly, engineering support, test setup and test conduct.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with basic facility maintenance and clean-up
  • Performs mechanical assembly according to verbal and written instructions
  • Assists with packaging and shipping hardware and equipment
  • Reads and understands blueprints, schematics and technical diagrams
  • Supports engineering testing and projects
  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic

4. SENIOR ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN 

Senior Engineering Technicians support the engineering teams by performing and overseeing mechanical assembly, testing, facility maintenance, packaging and shipping. Senior Technicians are in a hands-on work environment performing product assembly, engineering support, test setup and test conduct. Senior Technicians also establish good working relationships with customers, engineers and other technicians. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Possesses a high mechanical aptitude
  • Reads blueprints, drawing and technical diagrams
  • Performs assembly and production work according to verbal and written instructions
  • Has good understanding of all aspects of environmental testing, knowledge of test instrumentation and data acquisition setup
  • Executes tests to established standards, customer specifications and internal procedures
  • Establishes good working relationship with customers
  • Has strong computer background and familiarity with common office applications

5. PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN

Production Technicians support the mechanical aerospace engineering teams and other technicians with mechanical assembly, fastening, bonding, riveting, etc. to detailed work instructions. Technicians are in a hands-on work environment performing product assembly and production support. Reports to the Production Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs mechanical assembly according to verbal and written instructions including fastening, bonding, riveting
  • Assists with packaging and shipping hardware and equipment
  • Reads and understands blueprints, schematics and technical diagrams
  • Supports engineering testing and projects
  • Assists with basic facility maintenance and clean-up as needed
  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required Education: High School diploma
  • Preferred Experience: Experience with basic hand and power tools. Prior work in a technical field and/or construction, QA, electrical, plumbing or facility maintenance.
  • Technical experience in Quality, Composites Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering a plus
  • Preferred Experience for more senior roles: Familiarity with Military/DoD, Research & Development, clean room, mill and/or lathe operation, familiarity with AS9100/ISO9001
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
