Job Description

SUMMARY

  • The Project Engineer/Program Manager leads engineering teams to develop mechanical and pyrotechnic components and systems that exceed customer expectations
    • Leads customer interactions, including conference calls, meetings and reviews
    • Leads engineering design, analysis and test activities to produce a robust design
    • Leads documentation of engineering activities in drawings, reports and presentations
  • Conducts project planning to determine project cost and schedules, and to identify resource needs
  • Supports business development, including proposal writing and new business meetings

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Applies general aerospace engineering knowledge including CAD, structural analysis (including FEA), physics-based modeling, design and test of mechanical systems and structures, electronics, electrical cabling, system integration and qualification testing to lead engineering teams in the development of mechanical and pyrotechnic components and systems that exceed customer expectations
  • Applies specialized engineering expertise in one or more of the following: CAD, structural analysis, pyrotechnic components and systems or rocket propulsion to the development of mechanical and pyrotechnic components
  • Develops long-term business relationships through programmatic interactions with customers such as verbal (e.g. conference calls, technical interchange meetings and design reviews) and written (e.g. emails, reports and proposals) communications
  • Works with key suppliers and vendors to develop products
  • Supports business development, including proposal writing and new business meetings
  • Mentors, trains and develops engineers with lesser experience

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. or M.S. Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. 
  • Typically possesses 7 or more years of experience in mechanical development of aerospace systems with exposure to electromechanical systems. 
  • Background and experience with structural analysis, dynamics/ kinematics, advanced high-strength materials, CAD and machine design. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and execute projects.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance.
