Job Description

Brakes (a Sysco company) are currently looking for a Talent & Development Business Partner to join the Talent & development team on a full time, permanent basis, reporting to the Director of Talent.

The purpose of this role is to step change what we do when inducting, upskilling, and developing our people (including high potential talent).

This role is key in delivering the overall people development plan, building colleague capability, supporting transformation development, and driving culture change. Working with HR Directors, HR Business Partners, business leads and the Talent Director, the role holder will determine our talent and development strategies for building people capability and growth at all levels of the organisation.  They will ensure we develop our colleagues in the areas critical to our business through innovative and impactful development experiences, initiatives, and programmes.  The role will also take a lead on managing, in partnership with other Talent & Development Business Partners, our approach to maximising the apprenticeship levy.

This role is offering a home-based contract that will require some travel commitment and as such a good degree of self-motivation and flexibility is required.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise in all aspects of talent and development, consulting and recommending value add solutions and delivering a best in class offer, ensuring a centre of excellence of end-to-end talent and people development.
  • Support our business areas throughout our GB operation but with a partnership relationship into our Supply Chain and Operations.
  • Partnering with HR and business leads to create (or source), all aspects of organisational development, capability, culture, and talent development solutions delivering a best in class offer with measurable impact that drives employee engagement.
  • Recommending and influencing the future talent and development initiatives that are best for our business needs today and for our long-term success.
  • Support individual and team growth through recommendation and use of appropriate psychometric tools e.g., Hogan, Insights, Thomas International etc. (please note, accreditation in these isn’t critical, we will support accreditation if needed).
  • Lead the delivery of various business wide initiatives through squad or matrix management.
  • Work with the business and wider Talent Development/HR team to maximise the utilisation of our apprenticeship levy etc.
  • Monitor and analyse evaluation data to improve talent and development initiatives success.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience within Talent & Development and have proven capability in building relationships with senior leadership teams and managing and developing programs. Understanding the end-to-end development process - attraction, selection, assessment, and development and building talent and development strategies is crucial in this role. You should be a thought leader who can research, understand, and predict future trends - probing on and predicting current and future needs, knowing how to make a difference. You should be proactive and drive for results and ability to influence action, developing early-stage recommendations for discussion and further development. The candidate will be passionate about delivering our strategy and possess the confidence, analytical and problem-solving skills whilst being curious, questioning, and able to look beyond the raw data and develop insights.
