Job Description
The Head of Regulatory AMEA & JANZ leads the CP Regulatory function across the region, with overall accountability for obtaining, maintaining, and optimizing registrations of our entire CP portfolio while advancing responsible product use, regulatory compliance, and long-term business sustainability. This role translates a dynamic external environment into clear regional regulatory strategies for the company, protecting our freedom to operate, managing enterprise risks, and enabling business growth.
Leadership Context:
This role provides strategic and tactical leadership to a highly specialized AMEA & JANZ Regulatory organization, operating as a senior regional leader within CP. It requires strong cross-functional partnership with Commercial, Marketing, R&D, Legal, Government Relations, Production & Supply, Sustainability, and Global Regulatory teams, as well as effective representation and strong relationship building with regulators, industry associations, and other external stakeholders in the region.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the AMEA & JANZ Crop Protection Regulatory organization, set strategy, priorities, operating model, and talent plans, drive transformation and continuous improvement to stay best-in-class in achieving functional excellence and business partnering.
- Owner of regulatory strategy and execution for new product registrations, label expansions, registration maintenance, compliance, and lifecycle management across AMEA & JANZ, delivering timely approvals and sustained freedom to operate.
- Serve as the primary senior interface and set direction for engagement with key regulatory authorities and policy stakeholders in AMEA & JANZ together with country managers.
- Drive cross-functional partnerships among Commercial, Marketing, R&D, Legal, Government Relations, Production & Supply, Sustainability, and Global Regulatory teams to align functional priorities and deliver business objectives.
- Develop and execute advocacy strategies to shape external regulatory policy and industry positions; represent the company in trade associations, technical working groups, and industry forums advancing science-based, practical regulatory outcomes.
- Oversee regulatory governance, resource/budget planning and management, and performance tracking to ensure high-quality and timely execution, prioritization, and operational efficiency across the function.
- Accountable for regulatory governance of Crop Protection products, ensuring compliant, timely and consistent decisions across the product lifecycle, with clear ownership, risk management and stakeholder alignment.
- Anticipate and respond to emerging regulatory trends affecting the company, including development related to registration, labeling, and compliance expectations under all pertinent laws and regulations, as well as our sustainability commitments.
- Build forward-looking organizational capabilities through coaching, talent & succession planning, and leadership development; create a high-performing culture grounded in collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Actively participate at Business Process Review (Regulatory) monthly and Worldwide Regulatory LT quarterly contributing for the success of the function.
- Leads digital, data and AI initiatives to deliver measurable business value, building capable teams and driving responsible adoption at pace.
Qualifications
- Minimum education: Degree in Science and preferably post-graduate qualification (MSc, PhD, MBA).
- Extensive experience, including leadership responsibilities, in Crop Protection regulatory affairs, regulatory sciences.
- Proven track record of working effectively in senior cross-functional teams
- At least 10 years’ experience in crop protection R&D, and significant expertise in Regulatory or Product Safety, or other relevant business area.
- Significant people management and development experience.
- Good understanding of operations in other functions (e.g. legal, production and supply, finance, marketing, etc.).
- Proven ability to deal with the most complex regulatory issues, and develop effective strategies and options for managing them
- Evidence of having developed innovative regulatory strategies.
