Job Description

The ARM & CP Business Performance Analyst is a combined role responsible for delivering high-quality Trade Finance Credit Management (TFCM) operational services and robust commercial financial analysis across the Pakistan business, covering CP, Vegetable Seeds, and Flowers & Ornamentals portfolios.

The role acts as a trusted finance business partner to the CP commercial team — providing actionable sales performance insights, forecasting support, and decision-enabling analytics. Simultaneously, the role ensures the integrity of the accounts receivable portfolio through disciplined credit risk management, proactive collections, accurate cash allocation, and franchisee sales data support.

The role operates within Syngenta's matrix organisation, collaborating closely with the TFCM AME, Credit Hub, the Global Finance Operations Centre (GFO), and local commercial and supply chain teams to drive business performance while safeguarding financial controls and compliance.
 

1.  Commercial Finance & Business Partnering (CP)

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Review daily and weekly sales performance against targets; prepare variance commentary for sales leadership.
  • Build and maintain monthly performance dashboards and management packs covering revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, and working capital metrics.
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) with clear identification of key drivers.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive sales performance reports including weekly snapshots, monthly MBR packs, and risk/opportunity assessments.
  • Monitor commercial performance trends and proactively flag emerging risks or opportunities to the Commercial Finance Lead.

Commercial Insights & Decision Support

  • Track and report customer, product, and channel profitability across CP Pakistan.
  • Monitor price realization, discounting trends, and promotional Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Conduct scenario modelling for pricing, volume, and competitive changes to support sales negotiations.
  • Analyse promotional effectiveness, trade spending efficiency, and customer investment returns.
  • Provide quick financial insights to support in-season commercial decisions.

Forecasting & Planning

  • Update short-term sales forecasts; support the annual budgeting cycle by consolidating CP Pakistan inputs.
  • Build and maintain rolling forecast models with scenario analysis capability.
  • Participate in S&OP and integrated business planning by translating demand forecasts into financial projections and P&L implications.
  • Track forecast accuracy metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare forecast documentation, assumptions, and supporting analysis for review by the Commercial Finance Lead.

Franchisee Sales Data Support

  • Collect, validate, and consolidate franchisee sales data to provide an accurate picture of market performance and channel sell-out trends.
  • Support franchisee partners with structured sales reporting templates and data submissions.
  • Reconcile primary and secondary sales data to ensure alignment between Syngenta despatch records and franchisee reported sales.
  • Identify data discrepancies and work with commercial and credit teams to resolve gaps promptly.

Promotional & Trade Spend Management

  • Track and report ongoing trade spend, rebates, and incentives against approved budgets.
  • Calculate and validate rebates and commissions due to customers and channel partners.
  • Ensure promotional accruals are accurately captured during month-end close.

2.  Trade Finance Credit Management (TFCM) – CP, Veg and FC

Credit Risk Management

  • Maintain and ensure adherence to TFCM policies, operating all functions defined in the local Trade Finance Credit Management policy.
  • Analyse all customers per the existing customer segmentation framework; initiate and coordinate risk reduction measures.
  • Manage credit limit approvals and blocked order reviews within the Delegation of Authority (DoA), maintaining segregation of duties between TFCM and ARM.
  • Implement and maintain a system of credit checks and controls to minimise the risk of late or non-payment.
  • Support the review and redefinition of risk assessment methodologies, dunning processes, and collection activities.
  • Review and approve standard payment terms as per DoA.

Cash Allocation & Account Reconciliation

  • Ensure all incoming payments are correctly and timely allocated to the respective customer accounts and invoices.
  • Perform regular and comprehensive reconciliation of customer accounts to maintain ledger integrity.
  • Investigate and resolve unallocated cash items, short payments, and overpayments in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with GFO/SSC on posting adjustments and ensure accurate clearing of open items.
  • Communicate credit extensions, payment confirmations, and account statements to customers and sales representatives per DoA.

Debt Collection & Customer Relations

  • Carry out all collection activities in line with the approved collection strategy.
  • Manage the collection of outstanding debts, including direct customer contact, negotiating payment plans, and formal collection procedures where necessary.
  • Conduct customer visits as required to facilitate collections and strengthen business relationships.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with customers, balancing commercial needs with credit risk discipline.

Dispute Resolution

  • Manage and resolve disputes and discrepancies related to billing, pricing, and collections in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with commercial and supply chain teams to address root causes of recurring disputes.

TFCM Reporting & Business Partnering

  • Analyse the A/R portfolio including Gross/Net AR, Bad Debts Doubtful Provision (BDDP), ageing buckets, and collection forecasts.
  • Prepare and issue regular Credit Management Reports and A/R ageing reports for management review.
  • Support the BA Credit Committee and participate actively in credit review meetings.
  • Propose, set, and monitor annual KPIs related to credit management performance.
  • Review commercial policies and payment terms and provide recommendations for updates.
  • Provide management support to Regional/Territory and Country Leadership Team members on credit-related topics.

3.  Month-End & Financial Reporting

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate accruals, provisions, and A/R adjustments.
  • Analyse A/R ageing at month-end; prepare BDDP adjustments and posting recommendations with supporting commentary.
  • Prepare reconciliations between statutory and management reporting with clear explanations of differences.
  • Coordinate with accounting, GFO, and SSC teams to ensure timely and accurate data flows for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain comprehensive financial documentation and audit trails in line with group standards.

4.  Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure all A/R and credit management activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and Syngenta group policies.
  • Participate in and support both internal and external audit processes, providing documentation and analysis as required.
  • Uphold segregation of duties between TFCM and ARM functions in all credit and payment approval processes.
  • Flag any compliance deviations or risks to the CP Finance Operations Head AME.

5.  Process Improvement & Digitalization

  • Continuously review and improve A/R processes and systems to increase efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Act as Key User for FSCM Modules and Credit Management systems.
  • Support digitalization of collection processes, discount management, and sales analytics tools.
  • Contribute to the development and use of BI tools (e.g. SAC, Power BI) and predictive analysis techniques.
  • Ensure proper customer master data maintenance relevant to credit and A/R functions (payment terms, credit limits, account structures).
  • Standardise commercial financial reporting templates and credit management processes across the Pakistan business.

Qualifications

Minimum Academic

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (required).

Preferred Academic

Master's degree (MBA / MSc Finance / MSc Economics) preferred but not mandatory.

Professional Certification (Required)

Relevant professional qualification in progress or completed:
ACCA / CIMA / CA / CPA or local equivalent (ICAP – CA / ACCA affiliate, PIPFA).

Professional Certification (Advantageous)

Completion of a full professional qualification (ACCA / CA / CIMA) is a strong advantage.
Credit management or trade finance qualification is a plus.

Additional Details:

  • Data analytics certification (e.g. Power BI, SAC, Advanced Excel).
  • Change management or project management certification.
  • Minimum 4–5 years of relevant experience in corporate credit management, accounts receivable, or commercial finance within a multinational or matrix organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in credit risk assessment, A/R reconciliation, and debt collection activities.
  • Hands-on experience with cash allocation processes and resolution of unallocated or disputed payments.
  • Experience in financial analysis, commercial reporting, and business partnering with sales or commercial teams.
  • Experience working with SAP ERP in a decentralised environment; FSCM experience preferred.
  • Track record of working independently, setting objectives, and meeting deadlines without close supervision.
  • Experience working in or with franchisee-based distribution models is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Trade Finance instruments (Letters of Credit, documentary collections, bank guarantees) is beneficial.
