To support this mission, Syngenta’s Research and Development Vegetable team is seeking an experienced Seed Shipment Specialist in Antalya, Turkey. This This role will plan, coordinate and execute compliant, traceable and timely seed and biological material shipments for the Antalya Veg. R&D site in alignment with Syngenta global standards and local/international phytosanitary regulations. The successful candidate will partner with the global Seed Shipment Specialist network, customs brokers, freight forwarders and regulatory bodies; monitor regulatory changes, budgets and performance metrics; and communicate confidently in English with international stakeholders.
Accountabilities
- Planning and coordinating weekly, monthly and annual seed and biological material shipment schedules in alignment with the S2S team, breeders and third-party logistics providers
- Preparing all shipment documentation in full compliance with local phytosanitary regulations and international import/export requirements of destination countries
- Maintaining accurate track-and-trace records for all outbound and inbound shipment activities using MINT and internal planning tools
- Identifying and resolving shipment discrepancies promptly and minimising any impact on R&D crop activities
- Optimising shipment deliveries in terms of quality, quantity, and timing
- Serving as the primary operational contact for customs brokers and freight forwarders and maintaining regular communication with local NPPOs and the Agricultural Quarantine Directorate to coordinate inspections, certifications, and plant health compliance
- Ensuring accurate and timely handling of all shipment documentation and clearance processes
- Liaising with Plant Health Authorities regarding third-country declarations, field inspection reports and additional compliance requirements
- Proactively monitoring changes in phytosanitary regulations, customs requirements and import/export legislation affecting seed movements, assessing their impact and adapting documentation and workflows accordingly, without delay
- Represent Antalya site and actively participating in Syngenta's regional and Global Seed Shipment Specialist (SSC) network and forums to share best practices
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with SSC counterparts across Syngenta's international R&D and seed operations functions
- Tracking and controlling shipment costs and managing the shipment budget responsibly to optimise costs without compromising compliance, quality, or timelines
- Providing accurate financial data and forecasts to support planning cycles and management decision-making
- Monitoring key shipment performance metrics from available dashboard tools, interpreting data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities and updating visual performance board and reporting tools for transparency across team and leadership
- Collaborating closely with breeders, farm staff, the processing team, and site leadership to ensure smooth shipment execution
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives in the seed operations function in compliance with HSE standards and GSPP guidelines in shipment related activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Agricultural Engineering
- Minimum 5 - 10 years of experience in seed logistics, shipment coordination, or biological material movements
- Experience working in the vegetable business export and import business
- Strong knowledge of local and international phytosanitary regulations and import/export documentation
- Proven experience working directly with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and NPPOs / Plant Health Authorities
- Strong network and relationships with 3rd party partners in the sector
- Demonstrated track record in managing shipment or logistics processes end-to-end, including regulatory documentation
- Excellent verbal and written English (C1 – C3) compulsory
- Driving license required
