Job Description

Position Summary:

At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, providing top-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta’s Crop Protection Team is seeking Digital Agronomy Specialist in Pretoria, South Africa. This is a 12 months fixed term role that will be responsible for leading the strategy for adoption and growth of digital agronomy services in the region, engaging with key stakeholders to drive implementation and success. The successful candidate will provide support to clients using Syngenta’s farm management and field monitoring platform.

Accountabilities:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders to promote adoption of digital solutions
  • Conducting regular stakeholder analysis and engagement planning
  • Organizing and leading workshops, demonstrations and training sessions to showcase the value of digital agronomy services
  • Onboarding new users onto the platform, setting up their accounts and providing training on how to use the platform
  • Visiting farms to draw up field boundaries, gather field boundary data and inputting it into the platform
  • Providing ongoing support to users, answering questions and troubleshooting any issues that they may have
  • Supporting the current Cropwise team on an ad-hoc basis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Geography or related field
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in farm management, field monitoring platforms or geographic information systems
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written in multi languages common in the farming industry
  • Willingness to travel and visit farms with a valid driver's license
  • Flexibility in working hours including some out-of-office hours activity is required to fulfil the role successfully
  • Demonstrated passion for agriculture and new agriculture technologies
