Job Description

Role Purpose

  • To lead an specific project about application technology within region or across region for PT&E or externally.
  • To collaborate with a broad range of internal functions and external stakeholders and customers in AMEA and globally to ensure that products meet customer’s requirements and can be successfully applied.
  • To conduct testing to support new product development, and existing products for problem solving activities, report and communicate findings to key stakeholders. 
  • To form part of a network with application technology experts in other PT&E locations in order to share information and expertise and coordinate the generation of data, information and knowledge to support chemical product application and application technology development in AMEA.
  • Maintain an awareness and Influence the development of novel technologies (e.g. drones, precision agriculture, digital technologies, etc.) working alongside key strategic partiers and also influence the development of external regulations and industrial standards associated with such technologies.
  • To be the PT&E interface with commercial colleagues regarding topics related to chemical product application and application technology (including broader aspects such as Precision Ag and Digital Agriculture)

Accountabilities

  • To collaborate with laboratory development, production, supply chain groups and growers in AMEA and globally to ensure that products meet customer’s requirements and can be successfully applied - by providing insights and technical know-how for fulfilling unique crop, environmental, and equipment specific requirements.
  • To establish and conduct application and supply chain testing to support new product development and existing products for problem solving activities, which are appropriate to local requirements and conditions. Report and communicate findings to key stakeholders. 
  • To maintain a technical awareness of developments in chemical and biological crop protection product application technology in AMEA and more broadly within the region.
  • To influence the development of novel technologies working alongside key strategic partners and also influence the development of external regulations and industrial standards associated with such technologies.
  • Work with application technology experts in other PT&E locations in order to share information and expertise and coordinate the generation of data, information and knowledge to support chemical product application and application technology development in APAC.
  • To act as the PT&E interface with commercial colleagues regarding topics related to chemical product application and application technology (including broader aspects such as Precision Ag and Digital Agriculture)
  • Support and generate technical content to aid campaigns in digital agriculture and technical marketing efforts including information of application best practices, etc.
  • To provide specialist advice and training for colleagues in application technology.  
  • To share experiences and insights to help connect the PT&E teams to our customers and find ways to differentiate Syngenta products and services in the market versus local competitors.

Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities

Critical Knowledge

  • Master or University degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Chemistry Plant Science or a related field 
  • Hands‑on experience in operating agricultural drones for either data capture (e.g., RGB, NDVI, thermal imaging) or drone spraying applications.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal. 
  • Basic knowledge of project management. 
  • Solid understanding of application technology, engineering, formulation technology or agronomy 
  • Knowledge of biological and chemical/physical product performance criteria for products and suitable application techniques to optimise their performance. 

Critical Experience

  • Experience in using agricultural application equipment and applying application science and technology to solve product related issues and challenges.  This may include a broad range of techniques such as foliar and soil application, etc. as well as application of seeds. 
  • Familiarity with local agricultural practices and any potential uniqure requirements that may arise from this as well as any local regulatory requirements associated with product application.
  • A successful track record of delivering projects.
  • Experience in dealing with commercial functions and articulating project progress, risks, etc.

Additional information

  • This role is likely to involve the establishment and building of further capabilities within AMEA -both laboratories based and also through to larger scale facilities with connection to customers.  This will involve networking and collaboration with colleagues in global R&D centres so good communication skills in English will be critical.
