Job Description
At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, providing top-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta is seeking a Senior VAT Analyst in Budapest, Hungary.
- Execute VAT compliance program and controls for assigned entities to provide assurance that indirect tax is accurately accounted for and reported in relation to business activities and SAP programming;
- Support local finance and key stakeholders with queries having VAT implications.
Accountabilities
- Ensure end-to-end VAT compliance with full ownership, including preparation / review of VAT returns and other VAT related reports for European countries
- Reconciliation of indirect tax balance sheet accounts - open item management - advise posting corrections
- Support VAT process standardization projects and implementing new digital tax solutions
- Drive continuous improvement, challenge status quo
- Participate in month-end closing procedure
- Support the local businesses and other finance departments in VAT related matters
- Interact with external service providers
- Advise on VAT treatment
- Follow-up and implement legal changes
- Ensure internal and external control processes
- Actively participate in internal/external VAT audits
- Meet all reporting deadlines
- Ad-hoc and complex issue resolution
- Provide back-up for other team members
Qualifications

- Fluent English
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience
- Solid knowledge of European VAT and corresponding filing requirements
- Good stakeholder management
- Understanding of accounting principles
- Strong Excel and data analytics skill set
- SAP or equivalent ERP hands on knowledge
- Familiar with working in a complex matrix and international environment
- Attention to detail and administrative tasks
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Positive self-starter willing to learn new skills and understand the business
- Able and committed to meet deadlines and quality requirements
- Ability to work effectively both as an individual and as a team member
