Job Description

Role Overview

An opportunity within our Crop Protection Commercial Unit for a seasoned Agriculture Expert to take leadership of our Weed & Disease Control portfolio strategy and drive sustainable business growth. The purpose of the role is amongst other things:  

  • Lead Syngenta's long-term Crop Protection portfolio strategy, aligned to market needs, regulatory requirements, and the global CPD pipeline
  • Protect and maximise lifecycle value, margin resilience and sustainable growth

Accountabilities

  • Own the 3–5 year portfolio roadmap, define strategic positioning for each brand and product (premium, core, defensive, biological, phase-out), and lead the PLT process
  • Oversee full Product Life Cycle Management from concept to phase-out, including robust business case creation, review, and approval prior to launch
  • Validate in-market performance against business case assumptions and implement corrective actions where required
  • Align local portfolio priorities with global pipeline opportunities and influence CPD direction accordingly
  • Own portfolio-level revenue, margin mix, and Loss of Exclusivity defence strategy
  • Drive portfolio investment prioritisation and trade-off decisions under resource constraints
  • Translate market, regulatory, and resistance trends into portfolio positioning, pricing guardrails, and innovation priorities
  • Provide clear portfolio insights, risks, and recommendations to the Marketing Head and Leadership Team
  • Ensure transparent portfolio reporting, analytics, and risk management across all functions

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

  • Degree in Agriculture, Business, or Science
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in agricultural marketing, portfolio management, or related field
  • Deep understanding of crop protection, R&D processes, and regulatory environments
  • Proven track record in portfolio or project management with demonstrated ROI delivery
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking with expertise in data-driven decision-making
  • Experience with financial and value-based decision frameworks (VOI, ROI)
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Ability to translate agronomic and technical knowledge into clear business value and strategic recommendations
